Jorum news • Dr Jackie Carter (Jorum Director) and me (Sarah Currier, Jorum Service Manager) leaving Jorum after December 2013. • Dr Susannah Boyle is new full-time Mimas Senior Manager for L&T, starting next week. Formerly of Robert Gordon University. • My role being advertised as OER Service Manager, closes 28 November: https://www.jobs.manchester.ac.uk/displayjob.aspx?jobid=6894. • Mimas to become part of Jisc from 1 August 2014. No change to Jorum service.

- Hello everyone and thanks to the Co-Pilot folks for giving Jorum the opportunity to speak to you all as part of this useful workshop. My name is Sarah Currier and I am Jorum Service Manager, I’m based at Mimas at the University of Manchester but beaming in live to you today from my home in Glasgow. I’m going to give you a run-through of what Jorum offers currently as a service, plus give you a taster of what is coming this summer when we launch our new Jorum interface and features. And I will briefly mention our new Jorum Powered added value options. I will be asking you to stop and think about a few key questions along the way, just to give me and all of you a feel for where people are at in the workshop today with reusing and sharing OERs. After lunch I’ll be facilitating a session where you can deposit your own resources in Jorum with the help of some of the Co-Pilot folks in the room.
- Finally, I’d like to introduce you to our newest initiative: ‘Jorum Powered’. ‘Jorum Powered’ has come about as a result of working with our community and realising that there are requirements that ‘core’ Jorum alone does not meet. What I mean by ‘core’ Jorum is all that I’ve mentioned above, that is, the free, open access service for sharing OERs relevant to the Post-16 Education sector. There is a demand that the OERs being created by that sector are managed, shared and promoted in new ways and Jorum is now in a position to support these needs going forward by offering cost effective solutions. There are 3 options available. The first is a fully hosted repository service called a Sub-site. We are already providing this for the College Development Network in Scotland. You saw one version of this earlier as a collection within Jorum called Re:Source. As well as being able to access those resources within Jorum, you can also access them through their Sub-site, which looks like this.
