GOAL 1: The district will meet the requirements of SB 815 by assuring that all students are given the opportunity to master the Texas Education Agency Technology Applications TEKS at the appropriate grade levels and across content areas. OBJECTIVE 1.1: All students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 will be assured the opportunity to develop and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the required Technology Applications TEKS. OBJECTIVE 1.2: The district will ensure that all students in Grades 9 through 12 have the opportunity to develop and demonstrate skills necessary to meet the Technology Applications TEKS and attain Technology Applications credit for graduation by offering Technology Applications and Career and Technical Education courses at all district high schools.
GOAL 2: The District will provide trained personnel for the effective implementation of instructional technology. OBJECTIVE 2.1: All campuses, and their educational communities, will have access to well-trained campus-level personnel to support the effective use of technology. OBJECTIVE 2.2: All campuses, and their educational communities, will have access to well-trained district personnel to support the effective use of technology at the district and campus levels. OBJECTIVE 2.3: All campuses, and their educational communities, will have access to improved technological communication with the community to further support community utilization of technology, the integration of technology in teaching and learning, and to support adult literacy.
GOAL 3: The District will provide students and staff with access to the technology hardware and software that is outlined in Appendices A and B, in order to support and improve instruction and student achievement. OBJECTIVE 3.1: Assure that all students, teachers and other instructional personnel have easy access to the instructional software referenced in Appendix B that is needed to support mastery of the TEKS and the utilization of student performance data. OBJECTIVE 3.2: Assure that all students, teachers and other instructional personnel have easy access to the technological hardware, referenced in Appendix A necessary to integrate technology into instruction and provide students with improved access to information. OBJECTIVE 3.3: Sustain innovations and improvements in student achievement resulting from the Technology Immersion Pilot project.
GOAL 4: The District will provide technology staff development that increases student achievement and enhances the professional expertise of all teachers, administrators, and district and support personnel. 4.1:Continue to provide technology proficiency training that assures all district staff are technologically competent to effectively perform their assigned duties. 4.2:Provide professional development to ensure proper utilization of technology and effective integration into instruction. 4.3:Provide technology staff development to support instructional leadership. 4.4:Provide staff development to enhance expertise of technology support staff.
GOAL 5: The District will effectively utilize Distributed Learning Technologies to impact learning. OBJECTIVE 5.1: Expand utilization of existing Distributed Learning Technologies at designated secondary and district level Distance Learning sites. OBJECTIVE 5.2: Expand utilization of existing Distance Learning technologies for e-Field Trips. OBJECTIVE 5.3: Provide professional development opportunities through Distance Learning at a designated district site.
GOAL 6: The district will ensure that all district staff has adequate access to the hardware and software required to utilize the student and financial management systems. OBJECTIVE 6.1: The district will provide updated software to increase the capacity of district staff to use the student and financial management systems to improve educational services.
GOAL 7: The district will provide improved communication with students, parents, staff and the community through the use of technology. OBJECTIVE 7.1: The district will provide solutions to allow improved communication with students, parents, staff and the community.
GOAL 9: The district will provide additional infrastructure to support the Teaching and Learning goals and the administration and support goals. OBJECTIVE 9.1: Develop the infrastructure needed to support the teaching and learning goals and the administration and support goals. OBJECTIVE 9.2: Provide continued and improved support for district telephone, Internet, and network services.
GOAL 8: The district will increase efficiency and reduce operational costs through the improved use of technology and business processes to improve educational services OBJECTIVE 8.1: The district will obtain hardware and software solutions to increase efficiency and reduce operational costs which will improve educational services.
“How we need to learn includes using the technology that professionals in various disciplines use. Professionals routinely use the Web and tools, such as wikis, blogs, and digital content for the research, collaboration, and communication demanded in their jobs. They gather data and analyze the data using inquiry and visualization tools. They use graphical and 3D modeling tools for design.
