2. West Point Development Corporation, is seeking proposals from qualified
parties and service providers interested in submitting proposals for a long-term
agreement to lease and operate the historic West Point Lighthouse Inn, located
in the Western Prince Edward Island (PEI).

• West Point is a cape and
unincorporated community in the
southwestern corner of PEI
• Located within the North Cape
Coastal Drive zone and an hour’s
drive from Summerside (the 2nd
largest urban area in the province)
• Population of 596

• Cedar Dunes Provincial Park and

6. HISTORY OF WEST POINT
LIGHTHOUSE
• Built in 1875, is PEI’s tallest
lighthouse, at 67 feet 8 inches
• Only 5 PEI lighthouses pre-date
this lighthouse
• A strong symbolic value as an
important local historic site and it
is an increasingly major tourist
attraction
• Only 2 keepers in 88 years as a
staffed light
• West Point Development
Corporation oversaw the
expansive renovations to the Inn,
concluded in 2010

7. POST RENOVATIONS
The Lighthouse Inn is a recently
renovated 13-unit lodging facility
that features:
• Two rooms inside the historic
West Point Lighthouse
Museum (The Tower Room
and Keeper’s Quarters)
• Eleven attached rooms with
hardwood floors, new
furniture and walk-out decks.
8. THE TOWER ROOM
The Tower Room is located on the second floor of the actual lighthouse. It has
a queen size bed, full bath and windows to the water.

9. THE KEEPERS QUARTERS
The Keepers Quarters is on the second floor of the West Point Lighthouse
Museum. The Keeper's Quarters is the room where the Lighthouse keeper’s
family resided; it has two queen sized beds.

10. THE FIRST FLOOR SEASIDE ROOMS
First Floor Seaside Rooms
All rooms are recently redesigned with a walk-out deck overlooking the
Northumberland Strait, hardwood floors and all new furniture and fixtures.
Partially accessible rooms are available.

15. EVALUATION CRITERIA
Criteria for evaluation will include but not be limited to:
• Experience in successful accommodations management and
operations
• Financial resources
• Strength of business plan
• Ability to service guests
• Innovative ideas or plans to promote the Inn
• Investment in the Inn
• Other factors deemed relevant by the West Point
Development Corporation
• References
16. EVALUATION CRITERIA CONT’D
• In selecting a lessee the West Point Development
Corporation will consider all of the information provided
by the respondents to the RFP as well as reference
checks and other information derived for any
investigation that the West Point Development
Corporation may perform
• The financial terms and length of the lease will be
negotiated with the prospective lessee, identified through
the RFP process
• The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all
proposals
