Answer:
Based on Malloy (2010), the life and journey of Buddha started when he was born
by her mother through a white elephant that got into her body during her first day of
pregnancy. After Buddha’s birth, his mother died. At first, during his birth, he was
named Siddhartha while the blessed priests went to him to foresee Buddha’s life.
Priests advised the king that his son is born as a great leader and the king could be
succeeded by him. Also, if Siddhartha would be exposed to trials and challenges,
he can also be a famous religious leader. Because of these prophecies, the king
protected him from any external factors and environment. He became a great
warrior, husband and father. There was an instance where he chose not to follow
his father and went in the outer surface of the place and saw four passing sites. On
his journey, he encountered different people like an old, crooked and toothless
man; a devastated man infested by a disease; a dead body brought for cremation;
and a sannyasin who did not have anything but was in serenity.
His experiences enable him to wonder the true essence of human life. He became
very sad and planned to depart their castle. After he left, he would be on a journey
that is famously called as the Great Going Forth. He abandoned his family, cut of
his hair, detached all jewelry, gave all his animals to the followers, and travelled to
the true world with only his proper clothes and wonderings. Along his journey and
experiences he became and known as Buddha, the enlightened one.
His learning in life was vital because Buddha was taken away from the true world
and he needs to seek the solutions in his problems. Even if he sacrificed all of his
material possessions and his family, he had to seek his purpose and set a journey
that is similar to that of the “renunciation” in the fourth stage of Hinduism.
