The Nelson A. Rockefeller Center Civic Skills Training
Tip Sheet
What is it?
• A pre-internship training program for first-year Dartmouth students that includes 4 on campus sessions, an on campus
orientation and 5 days in Washington, DC.
• Lodging and meals provided plus travel stipend up to $250.
Who can apply?
• Any first-year Dartmouth student who has a secured internship for the upcoming summer or fall.
o Internships do not have to be public policy related
o Internships can be paid or unpaid
Tips
• Secure an internship, then worry about Civic Skills Training
• Plan ahead: get your recommendation started early!
• If you have secured an unpaid internship related to public policy, you may apply for internship funding at the
Rockefeller Center.

To apply for Civic Skills Training, you must complete:
1. The Online Application Form – find it on the Rockefeller Center's Applications page
(find the link at the end of this document).
• Include a 100-150 word personal bio (see a sample bio here).
• Be prepared to include the URL to your LinkedIn public profile, if you have one.
• You will need to have specific information about the internship host organization, including supervisor
and organization web site. If you are still waiting for final confirmation, please use your *top choice*
when completing the application, with a note about any other options you are still considering.
• Be prepared to answer the following questions
• Name at least two goals for your internship.
• List three ways that you feel CST will benefit you. What do you expect to gain from this training?
2. Supervisor Acceptance Form (Unless completed with the Summer Internship Funding Application). Available
