2. Teaching philosophy
With the PDHPE syllabus outcomes in mind I am able to offer
students the knowledge and skills for a sustained and healthy life.
As a teacher I encourage students to enjoy the outdoors and be
physically active. This is a great way for children to interact and
for me to observe their problem-solving, communication,
decision-making and moving skills .
Physical activity engages and energises students. I believe in
instilling a ‘sense of fun’ and participation by adopting the
games sense approach.
3. Teaching philosophy
PDHPE encourages students to develop skills where they respect and
value themselves and others. My philosophy focuses on positive self
image, confidence, discovery of ones true potential, creating an
inclusive environment and participation which is appropriate for
each stage of children’s development
There is a strong emphasis on other areas of the curriculum
however, students who have a negative self image and lack
resilience often struggle with the traditional academic subjects in
comparison to their more resilient peers. Therefore I see all curriculum
subjects are interwoven and dependent on the effective teaching of
PDHPE.
4. PDHPE SKILLS
PDHPE teaches skills that are essential for the growth and
development of students. These include:
Personal health choices
Interpersonal relationships
Nutrition
Bullying and stereotypes issues
Road Safety
Peers, groups and families
Communication
Sexuality, and many more.
