IAA Update: What's New in IBM Insurance Process and Service Models for v8.2? (Sakae Iwasawa, Certified
Consultant, and Pascal De Maesschalck, IAA Developer, IBM Industry Models)
A primary focus for new content in the Insurance Models is the corporate pension product. Corporate pension is a
formal arrangement between a company and its employees - or the employees' union - that provides funding for the
employees' retirement. This pool of funds can be financed in several ways and will eventually be used to make periodic
payments to retired employees. In most cases, both employer and employees make regular contributions to the plan.
Insurance SOA Models v8.2 provides the new content enhancement of corporate pension in the Analysis Process
Model, Product Model, Business Object Model and Interface Design Model, all of which are fully aligned and cross
referenced one other.

IFW Update: What’s new in IBM Banking Process & Service Models v8.1? Development Enhancements and
Extensions for International Trade Finance, Corporate Actions, Payments and CBM (Brendan O’Sullivan,
Technical Sales Specialist, IBM Industry Models)
Overview of development enhancements and extensions in the banking process and service models as released in
v8.1 (November 2008). The session will provide a synopsis of the new ‘Trade Finance’ content developed. It focuses
on how financial institutions can support companies seeking the necessary capital and liquidity that facilitates them to
both manage their cash-flow and manage the increasing risks inherent in international trade. Such risks, which we have
seen increase in recent years, include political, commercial, liquidity, market, production, delivery and foreign exchange
risks. Financial institutions play a critical role in the management of these risks, thereby helping to reduce or eliminate
the possibility of non-payment. Specifically, the session will be used to look at how financial institutions can support
companies in terms of offering lines of credit, documentary credits and documentary collections. It will also look at how
these development enhancements offer support for green field institutions looking to adopt, in a short period of time,
industry proven business processes that can be aligned to their respective technologies. This session will also look at
some of the extensions in the Service Model around Corporate Actions and Payments. In conclusion, the session will
look at some of the work being undertaken to tighten the interlock between the banking SOA models and CBM.

Bio: Brendan O’Sullivan is an SOA Analyst for IBM's Industry Models. In his current role, he specializes on model-
driven development for the banking industry (IFW) with primary focus on model-driven architectures, model

content releases. Before joining IBM, Brendan worked for an international software development organization. He has
achieved post graduate degree qualifications in both business and IT.

Cust Care: The Role of the IFW Industry Models in the IBM Customer Care & Insight Framework (Steve
Kopelic, Financial Services Solutions, IBM Software Group)
Customer Care & Insight - In today's environment it is increasingly important to drive new business opportunities while
keeping expenses down, yet not losing focus on your customers’ satisfaction. This can be challenging at the best of
times, yet there are opportunities that arrive from having truly world-class customer care and insights. IBM's Customer
Care & Insight (CC&I) is a software framework designed to improve the customer experience through all customer
channels and touch points. The framework is implemented in phases over time, leveraging existing software and
generating business benefits at each step along the way.

More and more, your customers are asking for a variety of ways to do business with you, including a movement
towards self-service kiosks, mobile and web-based channels. The CC&I solution allows you to track these touch-points,
and through analytics, understand your best and most profitable customers in a new way. The IBM Information
FrameWork (IFW) models are a key enabler for CC&I, providing a solid base of cross-referenced, reusable business
content that allows customers to accelerate time to value, reuse, and consistency, and to better comply with industry
accounting/reporting standards and regulations.

Deploying a Customer Care & Insight Solution can help your bank to:

CBM/UBM-IFW: CBM/UBM-IFW Integrated Business Architecture Framework and Tooling (Chris Rudiman,
Client Industry / IT Architect, IBM Global Business Services)
Need business-IT alignment? Got tooling? This session will focus on addressing those challenges utilizing an
integrated Component Business Model (CBM) & IFW business architecture framework with supporting tooling.
Partnering with our customers, IBM's has brought our services, software and research organizations together to
produce an integrated business architecture framework that includes IFW activities mapped to the Universal Banking
Model CBM components. In addition to the business architecture content, the CBM/UBM Tool (beta release v3.0)
provides a lightweight Eclipse based capability to manage the business architecture framework content, associated
metadata and relationships (i.e. heat maps, relationships of business components to IFW activities/content, metrics,
application mapping, etc.). As the CBM/UBM Tool is Eclipse based and supported by IBM Research, it can integrate
the CBM/UBM business architecture content with downstream IFW model content supported by downstream Eclipse
based tooling such as WebSphere Business Modeler, Rational as well as other non-IBM tooling. Additional capabilities
include import and export capabilities (for tooling interoperability), version control of models, as well as the ability to
generate various deliverables from the CBM/UBM-IFW models vs quot;hard codingquot; artifacts for various business/IT
architecture documents.

As businesses grew organically and via acquisitions, various business capabilities and functions were created with
even more diverse IT systems to support them. Many IT systems (and the operational areas these systems support)
have duplication and overlap, while other business functions have insufficient coverage. As business is rationalized
and re-aligns, how do we trace new business functions and capabilities to their supporting IT environment? How do we
rationalize Business, its supporting Technology, associated complexity and costs while improving agility? The
integrated CBM/UBM-IFW business architecture framework and tooling is targeted at these addressing these
challenges and more. The Universal Bank Model of CBM supersedes previous versions of the CBM models, that in the
past were mostly Retail/Consumer Bank focused, providing a solid foundation of business processes and rules that
span retail/consumer banking, commercial banking, wealth management, financial markets, enterprise portfolio and
risk management. The integrated CBM/UBM-IFW business architecture content, tooling and method provides the
foundation for “operationalizing” a managed portfolio of assets supporting enterprise initiatives and goals, along with a
disciplined and repeatable approach to operational planning and execution across the enterprise based on industry
banking reference models.

Bio: Chris Rudiman is an IBM Client Industry / IT Architect with over 18 years in the information technology,

Process Management (BPM) and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) enablement capabilities within IBM and for its
large financial services customers. This capability spans tooling, method, and content including use of IBM's
Component Business Model (CBM) and Information FrameWork (IFW) industry models applied across banking
domains such as Consumer/Small Business, Card, Commercial Banking/Lending, Treasury Management and
Payments.

Dynamic BPM: Dynamic BPM to Optimize Cost and Innovation for Financial Services (Sanjay Motwani, Senior
Product Manager, WebSphere BPM, IBM Software Group)
Insurance carriers are becoming increasingly customer-focused. With tight competition for premium dollars, it is crucial
to provide agents and customers with the service levels they expect. In the banking industry, timely execution of
transactions is paramount. Today’s insurance and banking payment operations are often fragmented, complex,
inflexible and costly. Innovating new methods for processing payments and transfers is hampered by the need for
guaranteed uptime. And new regulatory requirements add further complexity.

It’s clear that the need for change is the only constant in business. Yet most organizations are unable to effectively
manage the processes that underlie even modest business changes, much less to plan for responses to the whirlwind
of external and internal mandates. The good news is that business process management (BPM) offers a cohesive set
of capabilities and best practices that can help swing the pendulum in the other direction.
Although traditional approaches to BPM can yield strong business results through speed and efficiencies, advances in
dynamic process management, which leverages service oriented architecture (SOA), can spur a quantum leap in your
ability to respond quickly and effectively to change and business needs, resulting in an agile enterprise. IBM’s dynamic
BPM powered by SOA capabilities let you harness the power of change by enabling you — continuously and
dynamically — to optimize your business processes. It also helps you better align IT with the business, by sharing,
discovering and reusing business processes.
And you can get started even quicker with IBM’s Industry Content packs. It contains a variety of prebuilt assets, with
extensive, industry-specific best practices content designed to further accelerate deployment.

Bio: Sanjay Motwani is a senior product Manager in WebSphere group in IBM's software business. He has been
responsible for concept, strategy and product management of Industry Content Packs, a set of industry-specific
WebSphere accelerators. Sanjay has deep industry domain skills with subject matter expertise in the Insurance

FMDW – Compliance: Sustainable Basel II and MiFID Compliance with the IBM Financial Markets Data
Warehouse (FMDW) (John Carney, Lead Designer – IBM Industry Models for Financial Markets)
The vast majority of regulatory compliance programs in financial institutions today are project oriented. For example,
they respond to individual regulatory requirements separately with different project teams and little systems overlap. In
a scenario where the IT requirements of regulatory initiatives such as Basel II are challenging and subject to ongoing
change, this “stove-pipe” approach is not sustainable and can quickly become very expensive for both the Compliance
Manager and the CIO. In this talk we focus on the data retention and reporting requirements of Basel II and MiFID and
illustrate how the IBM Financial Markets Data Warehouse can be used to define an architectural blueprint for more
sustainable, lower cost regulatory compliance.

As of April 17, 2009 Page 9 of 10

domain from MiFID compliance and transaction data warehousing on the sell-side, to enterprise data warehousing
supporting back-office functions such as portfolio accounting, custody, cash management and fund performance
reporting on the buy-side. In this talk we will overview experiences with a major buy-side client to illustrate how the IBM
Financial Markets Data Warehouse can be used to drive overall enterprise data management strategy and build a
Global Data Warehouse serving a range of critical back-office tasks. We also overview new content developed for
FMDW 8.2 that leverages some of these experiences.

IAA Update: What's New in IBM Insurance Process and Service Models for v8.2? (Sakae Iwasawa, Certified Consultant, and Pascal De Maesschalck, IAA Developer, IBM Industry Models) A primary focus for new content in the Insurance Models is the corporate pension product. Corporate pension is a formal arrangement between a company and its employees - or the employees' union - that provides funding for the employees' retirement. This pool of funds can be financed in several ways and will eventually be used to make periodic payments to retired employees. In most cases, both employer and employees make regular contributions to the plan. Insurance SOA Models v8.2 provides the new content enhancement of corporate pension in the Analysis Process Model, Product Model, Business Object Model and Interface Design Model, all of which are fully aligned and cross referenced one other. • 4. IFW Update: What’s new in IBM Banking Process & Service Models v8.1? Development Enhancements and Extensions for International Trade Finance, Corporate Actions, Payments and CBM (Brendan O’Sullivan, Technical Sales Specialist, IBM Industry Models) Overview of development enhancements and extensions in the banking process and service models as released in v8.1 (November 2008). The session will provide a synopsis of the new ‘Trade Finance’ content developed. It focuses on how financial institutions can support companies seeking the necessary capital and liquidity that facilitates them to both manage their cash-flow and manage the increasing risks inherent in international trade. Such risks, which we have seen increase in recent years, include political, commercial, liquidity, market, production, delivery and foreign exchange risks. Financial institutions play a critical role in the management of these risks, thereby helping to reduce or eliminate the possibility of non-payment. Specifically, the session will be used to look at how financial institutions can support companies in terms of offering lines of credit, documentary credits and documentary collections. It will also look at how these development enhancements offer support for green field institutions looking to adopt, in a short period of time, industry proven business processes that can be aligned to their respective technologies. This session will also look at some of the extensions in the Service Model around Corporate Actions and Payments. In conclusion, the session will look at some of the work being undertaken to tighten the interlock between the banking SOA models and CBM. Bio: Brendan O’Sullivan is an SOA Analyst for IBM's Industry Models. In his current role, he specializes on model- driven development for the banking industry (IFW) with primary focus on model-driven architectures, model transformations and service-oriented architectures. He has played a major role in the development of numerous IFW content releases. Before joining IBM, Brendan worked for an international software development organization. He has achieved post graduate degree qualifications in both business and IT. Cust Care: The Role of the IFW Industry Models in the IBM Customer Care & Insight Framework (Steve Kopelic, Financial Services Solutions, IBM Software Group) Customer Care & Insight - In today's environment it is increasingly important to drive new business opportunities while keeping expenses down, yet not losing focus on your customers’ satisfaction. This can be challenging at the best of times, yet there are opportunities that arrive from having truly world-class customer care and insights. IBM's Customer Care & Insight (CC&I) is a software framework designed to improve the customer experience through all customer channels and touch points. The framework is implemented in phases over time, leveraging existing software and generating business benefits at each step along the way. More and more, your customers are asking for a variety of ways to do business with you, including a movement towards self-service kiosks, mobile and web-based channels. The CC&I solution allows you to track these touch-points, and through analytics, understand your best and most profitable customers in a new way. The IBM Information FrameWork (IFW) models are a key enabler for CC&I, providing a solid base of cross-referenced, reusable business content that allows customers to accelerate time to value, reuse, and consistency, and to better comply with industry accounting/reporting standards and regulations. Deploying a Customer Care & Insight Solution can help your bank to: • Increase revenue and customer retention • Reduce cost and achieve operational efficiency • Increase flexibility to support existing and new business strategy • Meet compliance requirements and reduce risk exposure Bio: Steve Kopelic is a Financial Services industry veteran, with 27 years of experience supporting solutions in the Industry, and 10 years with IBM. He currently serves as the Customer Care & Insight (CC&I) leader on the Financial Industry Software Sales team for IBM Americas Group. Steve has deep experience in retail banking, card services, commercial banking, investment banking and financial markets. His experience includes selling and managing engagements involving management consulting, custom software development, modification of IBM middleware and third party application software to meet customer’s requirements, and development of IBM strategy inputs to enable our As of April 17, 2009 Page 4 of 10

He has spoken at numerous IBM conferences and external events on the IBM Industry Models and the CC&I solution areas, including the related IBM software products and assets. Prior to joining IBM, Steve served in technical and management positions at Mellon Bank and First Union (now Wachovia Bank/Wells Fargo). He was a Senior Manager in the Management Consulting practice of Ernst & Young LLP, and headed the Charlotte office for MCI Systemhouse. CBM/UBM-IFW: CBM/UBM-IFW Integrated Business Architecture Framework and Tooling (Chris Rudiman, Client Industry / IT Architect, IBM Global Business Services) Need business-IT alignment? Got tooling? This session will focus on addressing those challenges utilizing an integrated Component Business Model (CBM) & IFW business architecture framework with supporting tooling. Partnering with our customers, IBM's has brought our services, software and research organizations together to produce an integrated business architecture framework that includes IFW activities mapped to the Universal Banking Model CBM components. In addition to the business architecture content, the CBM/UBM Tool (beta release v3.0) provides a lightweight Eclipse based capability to manage the business architecture framework content, associated metadata and relationships (i.e. heat maps, relationships of business components to IFW activities/content, metrics, application mapping, etc.). As the CBM/UBM Tool is Eclipse based and supported by IBM Research, it can integrate the CBM/UBM business architecture content with downstream IFW model content supported by downstream Eclipse based tooling such as WebSphere Business Modeler, Rational as well as other non-IBM tooling. Additional capabilities include import and export capabilities (for tooling interoperability), version control of models, as well as the ability to generate various deliverables from the CBM/UBM-IFW models vs quot;hard codingquot; artifacts for various business/IT architecture documents. As businesses grew organically and via acquisitions, various business capabilities and functions were created with even more diverse IT systems to support them. Many IT systems (and the operational areas these systems support) have duplication and overlap, while other business functions have insufficient coverage. As business is rationalized and re-aligns, how do we trace new business functions and capabilities to their supporting IT environment? How do we rationalize Business, its supporting Technology, associated complexity and costs while improving agility? The integrated CBM/UBM-IFW business architecture framework and tooling is targeted at these addressing these challenges and more. The Universal Bank Model of CBM supersedes previous versions of the CBM models, that in the past were mostly Retail/Consumer Bank focused, providing a solid foundation of business processes and rules that span retail/consumer banking, commercial banking, wealth management, financial markets, enterprise portfolio and risk management. The integrated CBM/UBM-IFW business architecture content, tooling and method provides the foundation for “operationalizing” a managed portfolio of assets supporting enterprise initiatives and goals, along with a disciplined and repeatable approach to operational planning and execution across the enterprise based on industry banking reference models. • 8. Dynamic BPM: Dynamic BPM to Optimize Cost and Innovation for Financial Services (Sanjay Motwani, Senior Product Manager, WebSphere BPM, IBM Software Group) Insurance carriers are becoming increasingly customer-focused. With tight competition for premium dollars, it is crucial to provide agents and customers with the service levels they expect. In the banking industry, timely execution of transactions is paramount. Today’s insurance and banking payment operations are often fragmented, complex, inflexible and costly. Innovating new methods for processing payments and transfers is hampered by the need for guaranteed uptime. And new regulatory requirements add further complexity. It’s clear that the need for change is the only constant in business. Yet most organizations are unable to effectively manage the processes that underlie even modest business changes, much less to plan for responses to the whirlwind of external and internal mandates. The good news is that business process management (BPM) offers a cohesive set of capabilities and best practices that can help swing the pendulum in the other direction. Although traditional approaches to BPM can yield strong business results through speed and efficiencies, advances in dynamic process management, which leverages service oriented architecture (SOA), can spur a quantum leap in your ability to respond quickly and effectively to change and business needs, resulting in an agile enterprise. IBM’s dynamic BPM powered by SOA capabilities let you harness the power of change by enabling you — continuously and dynamically — to optimize your business processes. It also helps you better align IT with the business, by sharing, discovering and reusing business processes. And you can get started even quicker with IBM’s Industry Content packs. It contains a variety of prebuilt assets, with extensive, industry-specific best practices content designed to further accelerate deployment. FMDW – Compliance: Sustainable Basel II and MiFID Compliance with the IBM Financial Markets Data Warehouse (FMDW) (John Carney, Lead Designer – IBM Industry Models for Financial Markets) The vast majority of regulatory compliance programs in financial institutions today are project oriented. For example, they respond to individual regulatory requirements separately with different project teams and little systems overlap. In a scenario where the IT requirements of regulatory initiatives such as Basel II are challenging and subject to ongoing change, this “stove-pipe” approach is not sustainable and can quickly become very expensive for both the Compliance Manager and the CIO. In this talk we focus on the data retention and reporting requirements of Basel II and MiFID and illustrate how the IBM Financial Markets Data Warehouse can be used to define an architectural blueprint for more sustainable, lower cost regulatory compliance.
