Is Industrial eLearning purely about“Workforce Productivity?”Have we become “Knowledge Workers” stuck in a 1929 Sci-Fi Movie? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4x_37i79QGg&feature=relatedCopy right F. W. Murnau Foundation
Way Back Then In a 1998 eLearning Conference Jumpstart Session “Search Learning” is introduced “We must wake up to the fact that vast amounts of what we all know is not from a sequential indexed based book, it is from randomly searching, based on need. We must scrap what we know about education and start from what media and our children are teaching us. It’s all about ‘Search Learning’” - RC
Now What? In 2009 Google became the Global LMS “Collaborative Search Learning©” is introduced “We must wake up to the fact that vast amounts of what we all know is STILL not from a sequential indexed based book or an LMS, it is from randomly searching based on need. AND how we share it in collaboration with the world around us.” - RC The sequential course has evolved into a global collaborative of “Micro Learning Paths©” We need a “Global Learning Framework©”
About the relationship of knowledge and a world of have and have nots About industry training vs. K-12 education About corporate process training vs. public education collaboration About how collaborative learning works in a global community About the impact of Context, Project Based Learning About new learning modelsthat change everything This is a disruptive presentation
“The Global Learning Framework is about the need, ownership, collaboration and awesome responsibility of human knowledge.” - RC
Four Rings of the Global Learning Framework© Know Need Learn Commune The human modelmust drive the data model

The Global Learning Framework©“Starts with a real need” Unless someone shares a solution A need is futility Educationis Power Educationis Community
We have all of this knowledge. What do we do with it?
What if… an American education became the right of every person in the world…. For FREE? www.sons-of-thunder.com Could something so grand as that be possible?
Perhaps we are there…When learning wentto the Web,something really bighappened. Home  School  Organizations  The World
How big of a leap is this? PERSONAL: Personal Internet– Personal Filtering and Publishing GLOBAL: Internet Collaborative – Global Collaboration and Global Content Global Learning Context Local Learning Context CORPORATE: Organization Driven – Organizational culture and processes SCHOOL: Society Driven – Foundational learning skills and values HOME: Parent /TV Driven – Life relationship skills, culture and core values
Personal Evolution PERSONAL: Defining my purpose in the world GLOBAL Learning: What my opportunities are in the world Global Learning Context Local Learning Context CORPORATE Learning: How I provide and survive SCHOOL Learning: How I fit in HOME Learning: Who I am
We have re-defined purpose PERSONAL: How I serve the world GLOBAL Learning: What Skills/Gifts the world needs Global Learning Context Local Learning Context CORPORATE Learning: What I must do to survive SCHOOL Learning: What I must do to succeed HOME Learning: What I need
GLF Principle: All knowledge has purpose Service Skills/Gifts Global Context Selfish Context Industrial Survival What I must do to Succeed HOME Learning: What I Need
Global knowledgeforced us intoglobal responsibility Me  Family  Job  Community The World I never asked for that!
Our collective personal knowledge will define our collective world.
Learning Technologies PERSONAL: Web 3.0 - Personal Filtering and Personal Publishing GLOBAL: Web 2.0 - Collaboration and Content CORPORATE: On-the-job , Stand up, eLearning (LMS) SCHOOL: School curriculum and mixed media HOME:Family interaction and TV

Global Learning Framework©- Knowledge Know Need Share Community
You don’t understand… I am this This(widow to Global Knowledge) lives inside of me. Our authoritarian time of knowing more than the student is gone. They need wisdom-guidance and not facts.
Global Learning Framework©”Is accepting that you don’t own knowledge” would you deny it to them until you saw the profit in helping them? If you were given the knowledge to heal a sick child… Knowledge is globally collaborative -RC
What is Knowledge?GLF Principle: Contextual Relationship Wrapped in Non-physical Context Physical Object OrPhysical Laws
“Knowledge is an object / law in relationship with the universe” - RC eLearning SCORM - Collaboration A Fact without Context
“Knowledge is an object / law in relationship with the universe” - RC Knowledge Object + Context Reality
Tag You’re It! Web 3.0 is the human world off collaborative tools , context by tagging
Knowledge without context is… useless Eugène Ionesco (1909–1994) “The knife can kill” From the play “The Lesson” The Knife (or nuclear bomb) just is…. now what we do with it is another matter.
Collaboration teaches context “Human collaboration is what wraps context around and within a Knowledge Element/Object” – RC
“Collaboration either forces the human experience to deal with actions and ideas in public or… collaborative context can reinforce fear, isolation, greed and addictive tendencies. We must teach that with every choice we make there is a corresponding consequence.” - RC Global Learning Framework Copyright 2009 Richard C. Close, No version can be reproduced in any format.
Values/context shape how we view knowledge Sorry… We must revisit our education debate on “Values Clarification” and present an ethical framework for context.
Knowledge is connectedto emotions, values and spirit New Rule: ”Knowledge elements are not time and space locked in a data base. They are defined… by how they relate to one another in the human experience. That relationship defines the purpose of that piece of knowledge” - RC Another Rule: ”Context defines relationship on the Internet” - RC And Another Rule: ”Collaboration publishes context” - RC
It starts with understanding the relationship between an “Object” and “Purpose” Knowledge Element (KE) is a word or piece of media that represents something KE is still - dead! Knowledge Context (KC) is how a KE relates to the rest of the universe. KC is fluid - Alive! KC is context She is morethan just a “sharable content object”
Knowledge Context TranscendsKnowledge Elements All Knowledge Elements are links to other Knowledge Elements. Collaboration is the linking process of Knowledge Elements in the human experience. The value of a Knowledge Element is either amplified or diminished through collaboration An object has no value until collaboration takes place Even if one person sees a Knowledge Element , everyone who influenced those viewers alters that perception Then again, free-will can alter any perception Linking is not bound by time and space A Knowledge Element only has purpose at the point of collaboration Meaning is purpose, meaning is developed through relationship
GLF Principle:Knowledge is connectedto emotions, values and spirit New Rule: ”Knowledge elements are not time and space locked in a data base. They are defined… by how they relate to one another in the human experience.” - RC Hmmm… What about Knowledge Management and SCORM?.
SCORM IgnoresThe Human Element “Sharable Content Object Reference Model” New Rule: ”Knowledge and Human Collaboration are Inseparable” - RC You mean my voice counts?
KCs are the Architects of KEs In physical Knowledge Elements there are physical reactions to actions. But in the human experience, the natural physical reaction (like to hit someone back or yell at someone who yelled at you) can be ignored and substituted for something that does not make sense to an animal’s auto response…. like forgiveness. In the human experience, logical and evolutionary leaps are inevitable, because it is not time-space locked. Mercy does not make sense… but it is wonderfully improbable when it happens. Knowledge Context collaboration involves the process of choice.
Knowledge Context (KC) is a Complex Fluid Gestalt of the Individual and Community Forces in the Human Experience A living context is a mosaic of non-measurable forces such as: values, emotions, conditioned feelings and free-will spiritual purpose that wraps around a KE at the moment of perception Knowledge Context dynamically alters and/or replicates when in contact with other Knowledge Context Gestalts Acquisition of KE can be either a freeing or addictive experience
Global Learning Framework©- Sharing Know Need Share Community
”Global Learning Framework©”The new test is in sharing what you know” we define our significance. When we share what was given to us…
Knowledge is FluidBecause it is Shared New Rule: ”Learning is fluid and evolves collectively based on need, collaboration and context.” - RC Yes…no more tests on Friday! An “A” means nothing. It’s my YouTube views that matter.
Web 3.0 Context is Knowledge w/ Purpose This is the beginning of technical KEs linked to a purpose How does the KE relate to me? How does the KE relate to the community? How does the KE relate to the world? I am a child in Kenya. I am in your life right now! What will you do with me?
How do we knowwho owns what? We will have to figure it out: ”Like an original pop song being copyrighted, collaborative knowledge is always a mix of many influences that are also copyrighted. So far we have gotten away with copyrighting the knowledge object. How do we copyright human collaboration? Can we copyright a value or emotion that makes the knowledge of value to the world?I think not” - RC Mom!!!…Billy won’t share his ball with me!
How do we get out of the industrial learning box? Hmmm…I’m not sure if I’m ready for this.
LMS box is our school-in-the-box Ah…Very Stable , secure, authoritarian and in control Web Content Learning ManagementSystem Wiki Tool Blog Tool SCORM Content Courses Perfect for “Drill and Kill”

  • 69. Collaboration teaches context “Human collaboration is what wraps context around and within a Knowledge Element/Object” – RC
  • 71. Values/context shape how we view knowledge Sorry… We must revisit our education debate on “Values Clarification” and present an ethical framework for context.
  • 75. GLF Principle:Knowledge is connectedto emotions, values and spirit New Rule: ”Knowledge elements are not time and space locked in a data base. They are defined… by how they relate to one another in the human experience.” - RC Hmmm… What about Knowledge Management and SCORM?.
  • 76. SCORM IgnoresThe Human Element “Sharable Content Object Reference Model” New Rule: ”Knowledge and Human Collaboration are Inseparable” - RC You mean my voice counts?
  • 79. Global Learning Framework©- Sharing Know Need Share Community
  • 80. ”Global Learning Framework©”The new test is in sharing what you know” we define our significance. When we share what was given to us…
  • 81. Knowledge is FluidBecause it is Shared New Rule: ”Learning is fluid and evolves collectively based on need, collaboration and context.” - RC Yes…no more tests on Friday! An “A” means nothing. It’s my YouTube views that matter.
  • 82. Web 3.0 Context is Knowledge w/ Purpose This is the beginning of technical KEs linked to a purpose How does the KE relate to me? How does the KE relate to the community? How does the KE relate to the world? I am a child in Kenya. I am in your life right now! What will you do with me?
