2. REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION OF FRONT DRIVE SHAFT PROCEDURE
SAFETY UNIT :
1. Stop the unit on a level place. Set te parking brake switch to “PARK” and put
chocks under the tires.
2. Raise the body and apply lock pin to fix.
3. Drain the oil from the hydraulic tank
REMOVAL
1. Remove the steering hoist pump assembly :
a. Disconnect hoses (1) and (2) from the torque conventer and
transmission pump .
b. Disconnect hoses (3) and (4) from the steering hoist pumps.
c. Disconnect hose (5) from SAR006 pump.
3. d. Loosen the mounting bolt (6) of drive shaft guard. Support the
guard (7) and (8) with a sling belt to prevent falling . remove the
mounting bolt (6). Remove the guards by lowering the belt.
e. Remove suction tube (9) and (10) of the steering hoist pump
assembly.
f. Sling the steering hoist pump assembly with a belt to remove the
mounting bolt (12) and remove pump assembly (11).
4. 2. Remove of front drive shaft :
Sling front drive shaft (15) and remove cross joint bolt (14).
Disconnect the cross joint key portion (13) by prying with a bar.
INSTALLATION
Before tightening the mounting bolts, check that the key way of
the spider cap is fitted securely to the key way of the mating yoke
1. Install the flange and collar of tool C1 to between the coupling (20) on
the engine side and the coupling (21) on the torque conventer side.
2. Align both flanges by adjusting the torque conventer and transmission
assembly to ensure that the collar move between the two flanges
smoothly while the coupling (21) on the side of torque conventer makes
one rotation.
Reference : allowable range of dislocation between the two
flanges shall be 3 mm maximum vertically and laterally
