4. And as you walked away with him

5. I played pretend you’d chosen me.

6. I’m happy for the baby, yet

7. Inside I’m aching miserably

8. I want to plead as you go by,

9. “ Does no-one want a child of three?”

10. I saw you meet your child today

11. In love with her before you met

12. And as I watched you take her out

13. I knew it wasn’t my turn yet.

14. I recognize you from last year!

15. I knew I’d seen your face before!

16. But you came for a second babe.

17. Does no-one want a child of four?

19. But this time there was something new

20. A nurse came in and took MY hand

21. And then she gave my hand to you.

22. Can this be true? I’m almost six!
