An Act amending 19 V.I.C., chapter 56 and chapter 62 as it relates to solid waste collection
times and noise pollution exemptions
PROPOSED BY: Senator Nereida Rivera-O’Reilly
1 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands:
2 SECTION 1. Title 19 V.I.C., is amended in the following instances:
3 (a) In chapter 56, §1555, subsection (a), delete “.” at the end of the sentence and
4 insert the following; “provided that, no solid wastes are to be collected between the hours of
5 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.” in its place; and
6 (b) In chapter 62, §2045, subsection (a), delete paragraph 7.

8 BILL SUMMARY
9 Subsection (a) of this bill amends 19 V.I.C., §1555 by prohibiting the collection of
10 solid waste between the hours 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., and subsection (b) amends §2045 by
11 deleting “collection of solid waste” as an exempted act from the noise pollution statute.
