  • 8. iPad  Naviga9on   •  The  iPad  is  navigated  by  a  range  of     touch  gestures  on  the  screen.     Tap   Swipe   Press  and  Hold     Pinch  and  Zoom  
  • 9. Features  of   the  iPad   front  screen  
  • 10. Home  buKon  uses   •  Wake  iPad  when   sleeping.   •  Exit  an  App   •  Tap  at  any  screen  to  take   you  to  the  home  screen.   •  Also  used  for  mul9-­‐ tasking    and  accessibility   op9ons.  
  • 11. At  the  back  of  the  iPad  
  • 12. Mute  or  Lock  Screen  rota9on   Via  SeZngs,  choose   to  use  the  side  switch   to  Mute  or  Lock   Screen  Rota9on   Hint:  Mute  works  for  certain  types  of  sounds,  e.g.,  alerts,  no9fica9ons.  Not  videos  or  all  games

Searching  your  iPad   •  Find  your  Apps  easily  on  your   iPad   •  At  the  Home  Screen  swipe   from  le<  to  right   •  A  search  bar  and  keyboard   appears.    Start  typing  the   name  of  the  App  you  wish  to   locate.    As  it  appears,  tap  on   the  icon  to  open  it.

Organising  your  Screen   Move  an  iPad  app:   •  Press  and  hold  the  App  icon   with  your  finger.   •  Icons  will  jiggle  (most  icons  will   also  show  a  black  circle  with  an  x  in  the   middle.)     •  Move  icons  by  holding  your   finger  down  on  top  of  them   and  simply  moving  your   finger.  
  • 15. Moving  Apps  to  other  screens   •  Move  the  app's  icon  to   the  le<  or  right  side  of  the   display  and  the  App  will   shi<  to  the  screen  to  the   le<  or  right.     •  Li<  up  your  finger  when   the  App  is  at  screen  you   want.  
  • 16. Crea9ng  App  folders   •  Press  and  hold  down  on   one  App  and  move  it   with  your  finger  over  the   top  of  another  App.   •  A  folder  with  a  suggested   name  will  open.    Tap  the   suggested  name  to   rename  the  folder.  
  • 17. Dele9ng  Apps   •  Press  and  hold  the  icon  un9l   all  of  the  icons  on  the  screen   are  jiggling.     •  Tap  the  "x"  buKon  that   appears  on  the  App  to  delete   an  app.  You  will  be  asked  to   confirm  dele9on.  
  • 18. Deleted  Apps   •  Apps  deleted  from  the   iPad  are  s9ll  linked  to   your  iTunes  account  to   reinstall  at  any  9me.   •  Locate  Apps  not  on   your  iPad  via  the   ‘Purchased’  sec9on    of   your  App  store  App.    
  • 19. Mul9-­‐tasking  bar   Double  tap  the  home  buKon  and  swipe  from  le<  to  right   •  Switch  between  Apps,   •  Delete  Apps   •  Control  volume   •  Change  screen  brightness   •  Access  Airplay  to   wirelessly  display  your   iPad  to  a  projector  or  TV.

Tap  or  Swipe:  your  choice   Mul9-­‐task  between   recently  used  Apps:   Exit  an  App:   •  Double  tap  the  Home   •  Tap  the  Home   buKon  and  swipe  from   buKon  or   le<  to  right,  or   •  A  five  finger  pinch   on  the  screen   •  A  four  finger  swipe   across  the  screen   horizontally  
  • 21. Photos  and  video  for  learning   •  Camera  App  can  be  used  to   document  work,  gather  visual   samples  or  set  up  albums  of   important  visual  cues.   •  Videos  can  be  made  to  assist   learning  or  improve  social  skills  
  • 22. Taking  photos  or  video   Select  photo  or  video   mode  using  the  camera/ video  switch   You  can  switch  camera  modes  to  take:     •  photos  of  documents,  students  work,   surroundings  (rear  facing  camera)   •  self  portraits  (front  facing  camera)  
  • 23. Taking  a  photo   Tap       or  press  volume  buKon  to   take  a  photo.       To  display  a  grid  on  the   screen,  tap  Op9ons.     To  zoom  in  or  out:     Pinch  the  screen     (forward  facing  camera  only).  
  • 24. Taking  a  video   •  Switch  the  camera/video   slider  to  video.   •  Tap  the  Record  buKon  
  • 25. Viewing  your  photos   •  Your  photos  or  video  are  saved   to  your  Camera  Roll  album  in   the  Photos  app.   •  From  here  you  can  edit,  share   and  organise  your  photos.  
  • 26. Sharing/organising  your  roll  of  photos   In  thumbnail  mode  select  ‘Edit’       •  Tap  the  photos  you  wish  to   work  with;  the  selected   photos  will  have  a  9ck.   You  now  have  the  op9on  to:     •  Share    -­‐  email,  print,  delete   or  add  to  exis9ng  or  new   albums.  
  • 27. Saving  your  edited  photos   •  Apply  your  edi9ng  choice   and  select  Save.   •  At  any  9me  you  can   select  Revert  to  Original   to  retrieve  the  unedited   photo.   •  Tap  Photos  to  go  back  to   Thumbnail  mode.

Photos  from  the  Web   •  You  can  save  photos  from  the  Internet  easily   for  use  in  student  work   •  Using  the  Safari  App  search  Google  for  the   image  topic  you  want.    Choose  the  Images   submenu.   Hint:  Use  copyright  free   images,  like  those  from   Crea9ve  Commons  
  • 29. Saving  photos  from  a  web  search   •  Press  and  hold  the   image  to  get  a   submenu.   •  Save  the  image  to   your  camera  roll  or   copy  the  image  to   paste  it  into   another  App

Images  for  learning   •  Students  can  use  their  photos   in  other  Apps  to  annotate,  add   to,  explain,  make  flashcards,  or   use  in  a  story.   •  Teachers  can  use  photos  to   keep  a  visual  record  of  student   progress  for  assessment.  Or  to   annotate  and  feedback  to  the   student.  
  • 32. Ac9vity:  Annota9ng  a  drawing   Open  the  drawing  App  Skitch   Select  +  (to  start  a  new  drawing)   Select  Choose  a  Photo,     Select  a  photo  from  the  camera   roll.     Use  the  text  and  drawing  tools   to  annotate  the  image.   Press  save.
