The Pocatello Police Department is organized into three divisions; (1) Patrol/Traffic, (2) Investigations and (3) Support Services. Each division within the department has specific staffing needs to meet our 24/7 service requirements, therefore the Department currently has (90) sworn officer positions. Each of these officers uses many pieces of equipment (guns, uniforms, etc.) as well as consumable items (gloves, OC Spray, etc.) In order to keep track of the equipment and to purchase and track the consumables, the Pocatello Police Department installed the CheckMate™ Equipment Tracking software with the Stockroom Inventory software. The Police inventory manager issues purchase orders and tracks the consumable items using the CheckMate™ inventory system. Once the items have been received they are transferred into the CheckMate™ Toolroom Equipment and Tool Tracking software. Equipment can now be checked out at the beginning and in at the end of a shift quickly and easily. Consumable inventory is reconciled so that the officers never run out of important items. And the Maintenance Scheduler option within CheckMate™ assures that items such as bullet-proof vests and OC spray are not used after their expiration dates. The ability to begin their shifts quickly allows the Pocatello Police to meet their mission of “community-oriented policing” by giving them more time with the public, rather than tracking down their equipment.
