Mattingly "AI & Prompt Design: The Basics of Prompt Design"
Question 6 media
1. Question 6: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
During the production of my media product I have use various technological
convergence. Technological convergence is when one or more functions is in one
simpler device which is more convenient. for example Photoshop , I used Photoshop
to create the design of my magazine. With this I was able to edit and enhance
photos. This was a better technology to use compared to other editing applications
(an alternative method of editing). A part from using Photoshop to edit photos, I
have also created graphic designs with it as well. Graphic designs such as the album
cover of the titans CD , page numbers on the context page, The title of the double
page spread etc. With my photography skills, I was able to achieve a wide arrange of
graphics that out normally be found in a magazine. This made my magazine appear
more: professional, realistic and attractive. Photoshop was very successful in my
opinion because it allowed me to create the magazine with various functions e.g.
filters, text box, colour contrast, editing etc. This is an example of technological
convergence as it is more than one function on a device. However, If I could improve
this, I would use a different deice apart from Photoshop to create graphics. I would
use the function of Adobe Illustrator CC which is specifically for graphic designs and
would be more suitable and has the specific skills and functions to create graphics.
During the process of constructing my media product, I have used different
technology to present my work. Firstly I presented my work such as : Preliminary
Task, Product Research Market Research ,Planning. By using bloggers I was able to
categories the work that I did preparing for the creation of my media product.
Bloggers allowed me to create a new blog that belonged to me and I could present
my creative inputs and ideas on to. Instead of simply putting my work on bloggers
using Microsoft word, I used a website called slide share. Slide share allows my work
to be presented in a slideshow manner that isn’t plainly conveyed by word
documents. Before creating my media product, I have used different methods of
research. Firstly, I researched by creating a questionnaire that allows me to create
freely and easily a set of questions with different answering method like tick boxes.
In further advance technology, the website also allows me to share the questionnaire
with social media and with other people through emails. This was an advantage as it
didn’t require more effort than to hand out an questionnaire. In addition it is an
advantage as there would be less bias towards the age variations. e.g sending the
questionnaire to an adult in a different city which has a different perspective of
magazines compared to people of the same age in a college. Furthermore, the
website also collects the data and presents the data in pie charts which require no
2. effort from the user. This is technological convergence because: it creates a
questionnaire, sends the questionnaire to social media sites and collects the data
into a graph. In relations to social media, I have used social media for research. Apart
from survey monkey, I used a social media site called Facebook to make a closed
focus group to collect data from other people about my magazine. A seen in question
4 , I have presented print screens of the answers collected. This emphasizes the use
of social media and its many functions and uses for analysis. Finally I have used a
Nikon DSLR Camera for my photo-shoots. This was to create a professional like
picture with clear pixels that could be used on my magazine. This would be better
than a digital camera where it allows more functions and settings. For example, it
allows the camera to focus of a certain area by using manual. This compared to a
digital camera would be difficult as a digital camera automatically focuses on the
object and would be harder to capture.
