ENGR40 – Clean Energy • ENGR39/40 start of the energy sequence • Clean energy technology industry • Modern energy systems (electrical utility infrastructure, T&D, grid fundamentals) • Clean energy solutions (wind, solar, etc.) • High performance buildings (LEED/EB) • High efficiency vehicles (transportation)

  • 11. Energy Core Modules • Clean generation – RE (solar, wind), fuel cells, biomass, etc. • Smart distribution – Smart energy (smart grid) – Microgrid concept (active management) • Efficient end use – Buildings as whole systems (LEED/EB) – Transportation solutions (EVs, biofuels, etc.)
  • 12. Campus as a Classroom • Campus Energy System – ~ 8 M kWh annual electricity use – 250 KW cogen (microturbines) – 1.5 MW solar PV (4 projects) • Campus-wide EMS/BMS (in progress) • Itron interval and submetering projects • Central plant chiller / boiler analysis (TBD)
