Open Vlacc was created in August 2009 by Aleph Heverlee to provide a shared cataloging system for 306 public libraries in Flanders. It consists of a bibliographic pool (VLC01) containing records created by six large public libraries and enriched imported records. Authority records (VLC10) and a Z39.50/SRU interface allow libraries (VLC00 users) to search the pool and import records into their own integrated library systems. The goal is to improve cataloging quality and sharing while reducing duplication of effort.
