How to reconcile the thought that you are the
creator of your destiny; and the 5 determinants
of success described in 18th chapter?
This thought that you are the creator of your destiny or
you can shape your destiny; has implicitly appeared in 6th
chapter (UDDHARET ….). But this verse is meant to
remind us that there is cosmic consciousness in us and
we have the golden opportunity to merge with Him. This
requires rescuing the lower consciusness or lower self
from the prisons of subjectivity formed by physical
senses, instincts, emotions, thoughts, and imaginations
and so on.
The universal way to do this is NAMASMARAN, apart
from various techniques of meditation and worship.
It is to be understood that you are the creator of your
destiny, when you invoke the cosmic consciusness
(creator of universe) within and; unite with Him.
When cosmic consciousness incarnates and gets
personified, He is the creator of His destiny, in as much
as He is creator of the destiny of billions and for
millennia.

But if we look at ourselves as individuals with our
subjectivity, then we are only products of the
environment and actions of others!
Thus ADHISHTHANA, KARTA, KARAN, CHESHTA
and DAIVA (18th chapter) and in other words,
PRAKRUTI and GUNAS (Prakrute kriyamani…; and
Tatvavittu mahabaho ….gunah gunehu vartante…; 3rd
chapter) shape our destiny.
If we are able to see this dynamics in every individual of
imprisonment, growth, freedom and blossoming, then it
becomes clear that both statements do not contradict and
in fact complement each other.
