6. Abstract
Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited is a Bangladesh European joint venture
commercial bank registered by the Bangladesh Bank. DBBL follows the rules
and regulations prescribe by the Bangladesh Bank for scheduled commercial
banks. This bank is very popular for its online services and social cause. In
this article, I have tried to give a comparative picture of corporate social
responsibilities (CSR) of DBBL. I also defined what corporate social
responsibilities and tried to show how important it is in this 21st century.
Throughout the article, the activities of DBBL on CSR have worked as
standard and helped in finding the shortcomings. It will helping in tracing out
different ways for improvements. From this analysis it can be said that there
are not only problems but also opportunities for further improvement by the
business world of this country in the field of CSR of DBBL. I believe that it
has included all the necessary to be relevant, reliable and useful.

7. Executive Summery
Dutch Bangla Bank Limited as the most important functionary of the financial system play a
dynamic role in the economic development of a nation through mobilization of savings and
allocation of credit to productive sectors. as the economy, but that should not occur at the cost
of viability of the total financial intermediation process. The performance evaluation of
business has taken high profile in the climate However, directed and inefficient credit
allocation by the Dutch Bangla Banks Limited of Bangladesh in various economic sectors
without adequate credit appraisal and monitoring, inter alia, ultimately led to the widespread
loan delinquency, and deteriorating health of the entire financial system. An attempt has been
made in this paper to examine and evaluate the nature and extent of involvement of Dutch
Bangla Bank Limited in development financing in Bangladesh using different performance
indicators like branch expansion, mobilization of savings, sectoral and regional distribution
of advances, etc. In their noble effort of development financing, Dutch Bangla Bank Limited
are facing various problems such as mismatch of sources and uses of funds, extreme
dependence on traditional collateral securities, politicization of credit delivery system,
absence of sound legal system for recovery of loans, lack of government’s extension facilities
in the form of data base, investment counseling, appropriate technology, infrastructure,
marketing of products, etc. However, they should increasingly involve themselves in
development financing in order to gain long-term viability benefitting themselves as wellof
micro-economic reform in the recent past. The real wealth of Bangladesh can be increased by
increasing the inputs available to the country. That is by discovering new resources and using
the existing resources more efficiently. Efficiency gains in the banking sector of the country
will make the country domestically and internationally more competitive and capable of
generating more income and employment opportunities in the country. An adequate
assessment of efficiency gains requires a range of financial, operational and economic
indicators to be applied including Partial Factor Productivity (PFP) and Total Factor
Productivity (TFP). Productivity growth is considered to be the best way to measure
international competitiveness and economic growth. Estimates of TFP measures will provide
rates of growth in the productive efficiency of labour and capital. Relative growth rates will
suggest whether TFP growth was predominantly biased towards saving labour or saving
capital and other inputs. To date there has not been any serious study on TFP in the Banking
sector of Bangladesh.
