2. Origins For years, the origins of traditional Chinese arch bridge remains controversial. Here are several theories about it: -TianShengQiao theory: which means the arch bridges are inborn and existed long before the existence of human being. -TuXue theory: which means the shape of arch bridges took its source from the shape of cave. -Tao Wengtheory:which means the shape of arch bridges originated from the shape of pottery urn. -Die Se Yan Jin theory (Corbel Arch): which means the arcuate structure rooted from the corbel arch structure. -ZheBian Yan Jin theory (Multilateral Arch): which means the structure originated from the multilateral arch. And this theory seems have the most credential in academic community And the oldest records of multilateral arch structure and curved structure dates back to Han Dynasty.(206 BCE-A.D.220)

5. The oldest existing bridge in China is the Zhaozhou Bridge of 595-606 AD, Sui Dynasty (In Now Hebei Province). It adapted the segmental structure, which combined a very low span-to-rise ratio of 5.2:1, with the use of spandrel arches (buttressed with iron brackets).
