1. Thunderstorms are the most common severe storm and form from cumulonimbus clouds, producing lightning, thunder, heavy rain, and strong winds. 2. Tornadoes are violent whirling winds that move across the ground in a narrow path, often growing out of thunderstorms. 3. Hurricanes are very large, swirling storms over tropical oceans near the equator, with low pressure at their center. They cause storm surge and flooding from large waves.
