LIFE OF HENRY THE MEDAKA

2. DAY 1
Stage 23 (46 hours)
We finally got our fish!
We are excited to watch
it while it grow into an
adult fish
There is not a whole lot
going on inside right now,
just things starting to
organize for Henry to
start developing

3. DAY 2
Stage 27 (62 hours)
A little more going on
inside, Henry should start
forming inside anytime
soon! We still have a lot
to learn before he
hatches.
We won’t see him again
until next week. I hope he
will be okay until then!

4. DAY 3
Stage 31 (121 hours)
He seems to have
developed a lot since
we last seen him friday
We are very excited to
catch his first heart
beats on video! He
seems to be developing
normally.

5. DAY 4
Stage 33 (144 hours)
Henry is really starting
to take form inside the
egg. Important parts
are forming that will
help him survive.
I hope we don’t miss it
when he hatches!

6. DAY 5
Stage 34 (168 hours)
Once again, he is
developing at a good
rate and all the parts
seem to be working
fine.

7. DAY 6
Stage 35 (200 hours)
You can now really see
the vital organs, blood,
and the shape of Henry
curled up.
On our videos, he is
squirming around a lot
which means he could
hatch at any time.

8. DAY 7

9. DAY 7
Stage 36 (hatched)
Our worst fear happened, Henry hatched when we
were not around! Even though we were dissapointed,
we were glad to see that we took good enough care
of Henry for him to grow and hatch normally.
Now it’s time to say our final good byes and send him
into the bucket with all the other new fish of our
classmates.

10. HENRY’S POINT OF VIEW
AFTER HATCHING
“Where in the world are my parents! They don’t care
enough to be around when im born. Why couldn’t I
have been given to a better group. And when they
finally do show up, they ship me off to a community
pond with a bunch of other fish I have never seen in
my life. But even though they didn’t even say good
bye, i’m still going to miss those two.”
Henry isn’t a very friendly fish!

11. HENRY’S KEYS TO SURVIVING
A lot of protection! Being such a small fish, he is first
on the menu of other fish so he will need plenty of
hiding spaces.
His water needs to be changed often (spring water
only) or it will turn bad and start to kill him; however,
it can be warm or cold water.
His food intake is not very picky which include things
like flake or freeze dried foods and many others.
