Mohan Singh & Sohan Singh



It is located in the Chamoli district.
This beautiful valley stretching over an area
of approximately 87.5 square kilometers.
It was declared as national park in the year
1982.


 River Pushpavati and other many waterfalls flow
through the valley enhancing the beauty of this
valley.
 Most of the species of flowers found here have
medicinal value.
 Some of the species of flowers that one can find here
are include - Geranium, Potentilla, Prinula, Geum,
Lilium, Asters, Corydalis.

Named after the hunter turned
conservationist Jim Corbett who played a key
role in its establishment.
It is the oldest national park.
The park was established in 1936 as Hailey
National Park. Situated in Nainital.

 The secure survival of which is the main objective
of Project Tiger, an Indian wildlife protection
initiative.
 The park has sub-Himalayan belt geographical and
ecological characteristics.
 An ecotourism destination, it contains 488 different
species of plants and a diverse variety of fauna.

 Tourism activity is only allowed in selected areas of
Corbett Tiger Reserve

has increased dramatically. Presently, every season

 Badrinath Temple is one of the holiest Hindu shrines
in India.
 It is situated in the hill town of Badrinath in the
Chamoli district of Uttarakhand state.
 Along the river Alaknanda, the temple is essentially
a Lord Vishnu shrine.

108 Divya Desams.
 This has contributed to the fact that Badrinath is vital
with reference to travel and tourism.

 These pools are filled with hot steaming water in the

attractions here is the Kedarnath Temple.
 Which is a popular Hindu shrine and pilgrimage,
attracting devotees from all over the world.

 The Kedarnath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva
 The glory of the temple can be attributed to the fact
that it is one of the twelve jyotirlingas (Lord Shiva
shrines), present in the country.
 The temple remains open only for a period of six
months, due to heavy snowfall in the winter months.

 Sacred city is located in the northern part of the state
of Uttarakhand.
 It is known as the source of River Ganges and also
the seat of Goddess Ganga.
 Gangotri is an ideal location for all those who wish
to take a dip into the oceans of divinity, as well as
those have a thirst for adventure.

 According to mythological records, King Bhagirath
did penance here, after which, as per Lord Shiva's
wishes, River Ganges came down on earth.
 However, to save the earth from the fierce force of
the river, Lord Shiva held her in his locks. Thus, river
Ganges is also known as Bhagirathi here.
 Moreover, it is also believed that Pandavas came
down to this place to perform Deva Yajna.

 Perched amidst sprawling Garhwal Hills
 Yamunotri is the source of sacred river Yamuna and
also the abode of goddess Yamuna.
 It is famous for its thermal springs, glaciers and
scenic locales. In effect, it is one of the must visit
places from travel and tourism point of view.

 According to Hindu mythology, this hilly spot was
once the abode of an ancient sage by the name, Asit
Muni.
 Owing to its legendary significance, thousands of
devotees visit this silent yet hustling-bustling
pilgrimage place.
 This temple was built by Maharani Gularia of Jaipur
in the 19th century. The shrine is dedicated to
goddess Yamuna.

 The Paonta Sahib Gurudwara is located at the
junction of Himachal, Haryana and, Uttarakhand
 This is the place where the tenth guru of Sikhs, Guru
Gobind Singh lived for many years after his father
Guru Tegh Bahadur was beheaded by Aurangzeb.
 Then, Guru Gobind Singh was sent away to Paonta
Sahib where he started honing his skills in the art of
warfare.

Known for the best skiing slope in Asia, Auli
is located in the state of Uttaranchal.
Auli is a grazing land stretched mountains an
area of about 6 km.
There are many peak Neelkanth, Hathigauri,
Eravath and Comet mountains.

about 3 km from Auli and is a huge meadow
spread in the middle of mixed forest of
conifers and oaks.

 Almora, the capital of Kumaon is situated between
Kaushiki (Kosi) and Salmali (Siyal) rivers.
 This is the birth land of several noted freedom
fighters, intellectuals, technocrats and bureaucrats.
 Quaint hill resorts such as Chaukori, Ranikhet,
Sitlakhet, Binsar, Kausani, Jageshwar and Bageshwar
are all around Almora which attract nature lovers.

 At Rudrapryag, you can see natural beauty in its
glory.
 In 1997, the Kedarnath valley and parts of district
Tehri & Pauri were conjoined to form Rudraprayag
as a new district.
 Named after Lord Shiva’s Rudra avatar,
Rudraprayag has the fortune of being the confluence
of rivers Alaknanda and Mandakini.

 Mukteshwar is a small town, and one of the most-
sought tourist destinations, in the Kumaon hills of
Uttarakhand.
 Ranges one can see from Mukteshwar are
Neelkantha (Blue-throated Shiva), Trishul (Shiva’s
Trident), Nanadaghunti and the Panchuli Group.
 Mukteswar is also famous for its beautiful orchards,
dense coniferous forests and old colonial bungalows.

‘Trihari’, meaning a place that washes away the three
major types of sins of thoughts, words and deeds.
 It is said that preceding the time of 888 AD, Tehri

and consolidated all the kingdoms under his rule
