Are you sa3sfied with your job? 

Are your friends and family sa3sfied 
             with theirs? 
   Even Americans who are lucky enough to have 
   work in this economy are becoming more 
   unhappy with their jobs, according to a new 
   survey that found only 45 percent of 
   Americans are sa3sfied with their work.  
    The drop in workers' happiness can be partly 
    blamed on the worst recession since the 
    1930s, which made it difficult for some people 
    to find challenging and suitable jobs.  
But worker dissa6sfac6on has been 
  on the rise for more than two 
  decades.  
Long term problems… 
If the job sa3sfac3on trend is not reversed, 
   economists say, it could: 
  s3fle innova3on  
  hurt America's compe33veness and 
   produc3vity.  
  it could make unhappy older workers less 
   inclined to take the 3me to share their 
   knowledge and skills with younger workers 
WHY? 
ONE WORD….. 
ENGAGEMENT 
    Over the past decade, Gallup has surveyed 
    more than 10 million people worldwide on 
    the topic of employee engagement, and only 
    one‐third "strongly agree" with the statement: 
    "At work, I have the opportunity to do what I 
    do best every day. 
Specifically: 
•  800,000+ workgroups 
•  163 countries 
•  63 languages 
Come on…Isn’t this stuff just… 
Actually…. 



   Gallup has quan3fied the value of employee 
   engagement into REAL money…

   Studies also indicate that employees who do 
   have the opportunity to focus on their 
   strengths every day are six 6mes as likely to 
   be engaged in their jobs and more than three 
   6mes as likely to report having an excellent 
   quality of life in general.  
So, what can WE ALL DO? 
To go from…. 
1. Assess your organiza3on 
2. Find out what mo3vates them? 
3. Make work relevant 
4. Focus on employee’s strengths 




Instead of training them in areas where they may be weak 
5. Explore individual career 
development opportuni3es and allow 
 employees to use their strengths at 
                work.
