southern part of Belarus and the northwest of Ukraine
 They cover about 38,000 square miles
surrounding the Pripyat river on both
sides

After the Russian revolution, which was a political
revolution, a civil was broke out
The treaty of Brest-Litovsk ended the hostilities with
Central powers in World War I
By signing the treaty, Russia lost
Ukrainian, Polish, Baltic, and Finnish territories
A lot of damage had been done by the end of the
Russian civil war
The Russian economy and infrastructure were
extremely damaged
The famine of 1921, which happened during the same
period, claimed 5 million victims
The Soviet Union was formed on December 30th 1922
The Soviet union was formed by the Russian SFSR and
3 other soviet unions
The SFSR was the largest out of the 15 republics
that made up the Soviet Union
For 69 years the SFSR dominated the Soviet Union
Though incorrect the USSR was often referred to as
Russia and its people being Russians


Russia's money is the ruble. It’s economy
is built up mostly by oil and mining
industries, but also by coal, gas and
chemical production.

ski or snow board during the winter, but
during the summer it’s a ideal place to
take long walks. The cities are all full with
many shops and museums.
