Investment Based Citizenship
An investment based citizenship is a citizenship which is based on an official program which is proposed by a given
country. For example, Commonwealth of Dominica, Saint Kitts & Nevis for Caribbean citizenships or Bulgaria, Cyprus
or Malta for European based citizenship.
Investment may be under the form of a non-refundable donation such as for example for 1 person 100,000 USD in
Commonwealth of Dominica or 250,000 USD in Saint Kitts or it can be mix with part donation and part investment
such as for example Malta with a 650,000 Euros donation and an investment of 150,000 in stock exchange and
renting or purchasing a house
Investment may be under the form of a refundable investment such as for example investment in real estate of
400,000 USD in Saint Kitts or in Government bonds such as for example Bulgaria that requires a five years 1,000,000
euros investment in government bonds.
Discretionary Based Citizenship
Discretionary citizenships are not based on an investment or do not result of an official program but are based on
local connections. For an example Gerard Depardieu Russian passport was issued discretionarily. Discretionary
citizenships do not require an investment.
Investment Based Citizenship vs Discretionary Based Citizenship
In order to obtain an investment based citizenship you will not only have to invest into the country but you will also
