I frequently received inquiries from investors interested to purchase an existing bank or a ready
made bank. In this post i will summarize what is available at end of November 2014. Do not

Banks currently for sale can be divided in 2 main categories as follows:
Onshore Banks: banks which are registered and licensed into a country and can indifferently
open bank account for local or foreign citizens
Offshore Banks: banks which are registered and licensed into a country but can only open bank
accounts or do business with non local citizens.
Onshore Banks for Sale
There are currently several banks for sale in Europe
Bulgaria: A subsidiary of a European retail bank is for sale current asking price would be above
200 millions Euros
Hungaria: A subsidiary of a European retail bank is for sale current asking price would be above
200 millions Euros
Switzerland: Small Private Banks are for sale. Asking price start at 25 millions CHF

Offshore Banks for Sale
There is currently one operating offshore bank for sale and two ready make bank.
Ready make banks are banks where the seller has already obtained the bank license and
incorporated the bank company but is not willing or able to pursue the development of the bank
(in one case because the seller partners have decided not to go ahead. In the other case because
the seller is resident of a country where there is a strong foreign exchange control and is not able
to transfer overseas the funds necessary to get the bank started)
Ready Made Bank for Sale:
Saint Lucia: A ready made Class A bank is for sale at a price of 380,000 Euros.

2. Commonwealth of Dominica: A ready made international offshore bank (equivalent of a class A
bank) is for sale at a price of 625,000 Euros
Note that the following still has to be done for the ready made banks to become operational
 St Lucia: Subscribe the capital of the bank that is to say 1,000,000 USD. make the
security deposit of 100,000 USD
 Commonwealth of Dominica: Complete the Capital (it has already been subscribed but
the seller will take it back)
 Vetting of the new shareholder and director of the bank (around 1 to 2 month – former
director and shareholder will remain until such time where all formalities are
completed) – we can assist with this service
 Apply for a Swift code – we can assist with this service
 Apply for a correspondent bank account – we can assist with this service
 make an agreement with debit card issuer (visa and/or master card) – we can assist with
this service
 purchase bank software (between 50,000 to 60,000 Euros)
Operating Offshore Bank for Sale
Saint Lucia: There is a small offshore bank for sale. The bank has been in operation since more
than five years now. Asking price is 2,500,000 Euros
