10. Why you should interview as
much as possible:
You need the practice. Some of you have not
interviewed for a while. You need to refine your story
and improve your communication skills, which
require practice. That means interviewing as much as
you can.
Interviewing will refine your job search. You’ll
learn about new trends, positions, and opportunities,
your perspective will shift, and you’ll see new paths
that you were previously unaware of.
11. Your own story
Tell your true story in resume. Don’t add anything
extra in your resume which you are not aware of.
It gives you confidence
Increase self awareness
Bring humanity to your resume
12. Developing your story for job
interviews
Think about major events, memories, and turning
points that shaped who you are
Focus on memorable “Wow” moments.
Uncover the themes in your story-
Mentoring others, doing research, helping a specific
type of client, advancing knowledge in your field?
What gives you joy?
Are you a teacher, a leader, an entrepreneur, a risk
taker?
13. Manage stress
Interviewing for a job can make anyone stressed
In small doses, that stress can actually be beneficial,
helping you perform under pressure
14. Be prepared
Interviews allow you to demonstrate that you are the
right candidate for the job
The better prepared you are, the more relaxed and
comfortable you will be when the questions start
coming your way.
But What to prepare?
15. KNOW YOURSELF
Your personal value
Your interests
Your abilities and skills
Your qualifications for a job
Your career goals and employment preferences
Be prepared to discuss how your background can
benefit the organization.
16. Do your research Gather information about the
company and the position available.
Practice interviewing. Enlist a friend (better yet, a
group of friends and colleagues) to ask you sample
questions. Practice making eye contact
Record your practice sessions- Pay attention to
body language and verbal presentation.
Try to Eliminate verbal fillers, like “uh,” and “um.”
Practice using positive body language to signal
confidence
17. Be aware of Likely questions
Describe Yourself?
About Projects ,academics ?
Describe a situation in which you didn’t meet your
stated goal, how did you handle it?
18. Ask questions after the interview
Off course if Interviewer permits
Being prepared and asking great questions about the
position and the employer shows your interest during the
interview
You should be clear about what you want and what you
offer to the company.
Try to be thoughtful and self-reflective in both your
interview questions and your answers
Show the interviewer you know yourself—your strengths
and your weaknesses.
Be prepared to talk about which areas would present
challenges and how you would address them
19. Resume tips
Spell Check and "Reality Check"
Not Too Long, But Not Too ShortGo into enough
detail to give an accurate view of your skills, but not
so long that the reader falls asleep. You do not need
to list every project you have ever worked on.
Summarize, but be inclusive
Formatting Counts- Avoid Fancy formatting with
pretty fonts, lines, boxes; should have very basic
formatting (spacing and paragraph breaks, for
example).
20. Keywords are Key in Resume
Include relevant keywords in your resume, because this
is how you will be found.
Don't stuff your resume with keywords that are not
relevant of your experience.
21. Include the Basics
A technical resume should include the following
information sections.
An objective: 1-2 sentences describing what you want,
customize this for the job you are applying for.
Education: Education background ,scoring
Experience: List your past employers and/or major
projects you have worked on. Start with the most recent.
Technology Summary: List only the technologies you
know well.
22. Have Multiple Versions
If you are in more than one role (or have skills that may
fit more than one role) you should have multiple
versions of your resume available that highlight those
skills.
23. Make Your Resume Viewable
Recruiters and hiring managers like to search and
"source" for candidates.
Job portals,LinkedIn
24. DRESS FOR SUCCESS
Take time to be well-groomed, have neatly trimmed
hair, moderate makeup, be well-groomed and clean.
Dress in business attire
Look professional. You are more likely to be heard in
the interview and employers will be more likely to
assume you can perform the job.
Information is who, what and when Knowledge is how
Information Technology is a supportive industry and not a main stream industry.
