Personality disorders, not mental illness, are a leading cause of increased rape cases according to psychiatrist Dr. S.D. Singh. A personality disorder involves abnormal sexual thoughts and behaviors rather than actual mental illness. Many child sex offenders have personality disorders where sexual fantasies are a major part of their thoughts, leading them to act on opportunities. They seek out children who can't resist or be threatened into silence. Prevention through social support and education on healthy relationships is needed to address the root causes like family dysfunction and lack of role models.

5. Sexuality is a normal phenomenon in everyone
But for people with personality disorders, sexual fantasies
occupy a major content of their thoughts, and they make
use of the slightest opportunity to live their fantasy.

6. These are the same people who exhibit abnormal
sexual behaviour with their partners, and indulge
in perverted comments and behaviour in the
public.

8. Aggression towards a child is a degree higher as the
victim is not mature enough to understand the
nature of the abuse.

9. Normal, healthy sexuality is unknown to them.
Many of them derive pleasure from abusing the victim.
Children have no strength to resist and can be
threatened to silence.

10.  "Many of them are addicted to alcohol and drugs,
which when used in excess, increases desire but affect
performance.
Such people would be too insecure to approach an adult
partner and would turn to children instead.

Lack of good role models
At adolescence ,in our society many are not taught of a
healthy approach to sex and sexuality.
Exposure to provoking scenes and ideas during
adolescence without decision making skills for
discrimination.

aggressive after drinking alcohol.Studies show
that men who think they have been drinking

responsive to erotic stimuli and rape scenarios.

physical health as parents, as teachers, as relatives
and as a responsible citizen of India …..
