Training on Health and Disasters Risk Reduction
Course aim
To build the capacity of government officials and partner staff towards engaging in sector-specific
disaster risk management for Health, with a focus on processes and skills for disaster risk reduction
Course objectives:
At the end of this course participants will be able to:
• Explain basics of disaster risk management and disaster-development linkages
• Illustrate the rationale and elements/components of Health in disaster risk management in
Madhya Pradesh
• Design assessment processes for Health-related disaster risks and needs, and list tools for
assessment
• Conduct risk reduction planning for Health, including contingency planning
• Identify the key actors in a typical disaster response in Madhya Pradesh, and explain significance
of multiple stakeholder coordination
