69. ICAO(International Civil Aviation Organization)
Created as a permanent body on April 4,1947.
The agency sets international standards and
regulations necessary for the safety, efficiency and
regularity of air transport.
The agency has been instrumental in improving
meteorological services, ATC, air to ground
communications, SAR operations and other
measures for safe international flight.
The fight against hijacking and other terrorist
attacks and the effects of aircraft noise on the
environment have also been of special concern to the
ICAO.

• Facilitation
• Documents
• International standards and practises, including those for carriage
of dangerous goods

72. The WARSAW CONVENTION
In 1929,the Warsaw Convention-an
intergovernmental agreement concluded with
severalamendments and additions which includes the
liability of airlines for death or injury to passengers
and for loss, damage or delay to baggage and cargo in
most international travel.
73. The MONTREAL CONVENTION
The maximum baggage liability limit for checked
and unchecked baggage is 1000 SDR's per customer
unless a higher value is declared and applicable
charges are paid in advance.
Special Drawing Rights is an international
monetary fund currency unit.The SDR is
Converted to USD for financial settlement
purposes.
75. Freedoms Of Air
The Chicago convention defined "freedoms of
the air", which are put into practise as a result
of the bilateral agreements between pairs of
countries. There are six freedoms of air.

The right of an airline of a country to fly
across the territory of another country
without landing.
77. Second Freedom
The right of an airline of a country to land in
the territory of another country for non-trafic
purposes, for instance refueling, crew FDTL,
Technical malfunctioning etc...
78. Third Freedom
The right of an airline of a country to set
down in another country passengers, mail
and cargo coining from the home country
of the airline.
79. Fourth Freedom
The right of an airline of a country to
pick up in another country
passengers, mail and cargo destined
for the home country of the airline.
80. Fifth Freedom
The right of an airline of a country to carry
passengers, mail and cargo from a point of
origin in a foreign country to a point of
destination in another foreign country.

The passengers, mail and cargo are carried
