Ouranos and Kronos hated each other
and hid his children in dark places of the
Earth.
Gaia asked for the help of her children to
fought for Ouranus.
Kronos reached between his parents
with the sickle.
He grabbed his father and castrated him
and threw the severed
genitals into the ocean.
Giants Erinves Ash Tree Nymphs
From the split bloods of
Ouranos came..
From the sea foam
where his genitals fell
came Aphrodite
Kronos, the new Lord
of the Universe, took
his sister Rhea for his
bride.
Gaia and Ouranos
both had prophesied
that he would be
overthrown by a son.
To avoid this, Kronos
swallowed each of his
children as they were
born.
Rhea carried the last
child to Crete and gave
Kronos a rock to
swallow instead.
The child was Zeus.
Zeus conquered
Kronos in a great war
and rescued his
siblings.
Zeus ruled the
Olympus and married
Hera.
1st
Version of Creation:
Zeus divided the
world up: he made his
heaven in Mt. Olympus
and put the Earth in
He began creating people in the upper
world.
First Race: Perfect and cast out of gold
Never grew old or died
Second Race: Created out of silver
Extraordinarily vain and
beautiful
Third Race: “Bronze Race”
Create tools and build
industries
Last Race: Created from iron
Grew old and rusted
Worked, loved and died
Prayed to Gods
2nd
Version of Creation:
Zeus furnish Gaia with life and Ouranos
with stars.
Soon the Earth lacked only two things:
man and animals.
He summoned his sons Prometheus and
Epimetheus to go to Earth and create men
and animals and give them each a gift.
Epimetheus worked on the animals and
used all the gifts.
Continuation..
Prometheus pitied
mankind and decided to
steal fire from Mt. Olympus.
He ordered his son to be
chained to a mountain and
for a vulture to eat
Prometheus’s liver.
Zeus saw what was
happening.
Zeus asked one of his
sons, Hephaestus (God of
Craftsmen) to make a lovely
image out of clay.
The lovely image was
called as Pandora.
All gods and goddesses
gave her a gift.
Zeus gave him a box
and he ordered her
never to open.
Zeus also presented
her to Epimetheus as a
wife.
Because of her too much curiosity,
she opened the box.
Out of the box flew all he horrors –
pain, sickness, envy, greed, suffering,
hunger and jealousy.
Only one of these gifts was good
and this gift was hope.
