To recognise Fascination of Plants Day the Joint Graduate School for Plant and Food Science, is
hosting an event for high school students, teachers, parents and the general public to find out
more about the amazing world of plants.
THE PROGRAMME: TALKS (10-15 mins):
1.30pm Orchid tricks and tactics: Australian
1 and NZ orchids and their pollinators
2.00pm Plants from Hawaiki to Aotearoa:
Adaptation of Eastern Polynesian ancestors
of Maori to New Zealand’s Climate
2.30pm Psa: a modern day bubonic plague on kiwifruit
3.00pm What can plant biotechnology do for you?

Guided tours of NZ native plants in
Old Government House grounds
