5. This made the class very excited and of

6. Dear Man with the
Yellow Hat,
We are so happy Curious
George can come!
Please come next week!
Your friends,
Mrs. Vacha’s
Kindergarten
7. Curious George was so happy that Mrs.
Vacha’s kindergarten class wanted him
to visit.
But he was curious! He wanted
to know exactly what they
liked.
So, the Man with the Yellow Hat
wrote to Mrs.Vacha’s kindergarten
and asked them to write and tell
George what they liked.
8. The Kindergarteners took a survey to find
out their exact favorites.
They each chose one topic they wanted to
know about and asked each friend in the
class.
9. They each prepared a survey sheet like this
to organize their data. They interviewed each
classmate, carefully writing their friend’s initials to
keep track of each choice.
10. Each child used a checklist (like a map - our
tables are hexagons) to be sure to ask every
friend.
This way, they did not forget someone by mistake.
They had a record and could ask absent students later.

They entered their data numbers on
the computer. Then they printed out a
graph to show the results.
Here is what they sent to Curious
George:
12. Tanishi is my name and
graphing is my game!
Favorite career is what
I wanted to know! Can
you guess what my graph
will show?
13. Can you guess our favorite?
police
officer
pilot
vet
astronaut
81. At last Curious George came for his visit and
the graphs the kindergarteners sent to him
helped him choose some special surprises!
Can you guess what he has in his bag?
