“Dating, relationships, and sexuality are fundamental to our health and happiness as human
beings. Evidenced in the multitude of television shows and movies, pop culture tells us that
it is a universal struggle of significant magnitude. But grappling with ‘finding the one’ and
feeling fulfilled sexually is more than just the plot of a hit television show, it is essential to
our emotional and physical well-being.” - Dr. Danielle Sheypuk

2. “While there have been many campaigns designed to improve the lives
of people with physical disabilities, very little attention had been paid
to improving their romantic relationships.
“As a commentator for the news media, I will advocate for the recognition
and improvement of this important facet of life.”
“Like those arriving at Ellis Island, I came to Manhattan
hoping for a land of opportunity and finding a freedom from
the constraints of attempting to date with a physical
disability. Since my arrival in New York City more than 11
years ago, I have been fortunate enough to put myself out
there on the dating scene. My experience and struggles with
dating and relationships has taught me that this is a wide-
spread problem, not one relegated to small towns like
Scranton, and this problem has become my passion.
My personal struggles are supported by the literature on the
topic, and my campaign will focus on several key dimensions
that are of critical importance.” - Dr. Danielle Sheypuk
