1. Science Background
· Matter is defined as anything that has weight and takes
up space.
· All objects and subtances are made of matter, whether
they are solids, liquids, or gases.
· An object can be made of different kinds of matter. For
example, an ice skate is made of leather, cotton, plastic
and metal, while the human body includes skin, bones,
blood, and other types of matter.

1. How can you tell thant something is made of matter?
2. Can an object be made up of more than one type of
matter? Give an example of an object that contains
more than one type of matter.
H.O.T. A friend has a jar of something that he thinks is
not made of matter. What experiments might you do to
