14. The CC0 Public Domain Dedication 1.0
Universal has three layers:
Layer #1: a waiver of all rights in the licensed work
Layer #2: a free license without any
Layer #3: a promise not to exercise
Subject matter under CC0 can be used without
any restrictions in different jurisdictions, as if it
was in the Public Domain
15. Europeana Data Exchange Agreement -
provisions for previews
You are encouraged to to provide Previews together with
your metadata (not required)
If you provide previews Europeana is entiteled to publish
them alongside search results.
The previews do not fall under the CC0 waiver, instead they
can be used according to the rights statement in edm:rights
Europeana will publish the URL of the preview via the API as
Linked Open Data. If you are not comfortable with this you
can opt out of this.
17. Rights information about previews on Europeana:
“With the exception of the previews, all data
available on europeana. eu is available free
of restrictions under the terms of the
Creative Commons Zero Public Domain
Dedication. If you reuse metadata from
Europeana, please follow the Europeana
Data Use Guidelines. Previews can only be
used in accordance with the rights
information displayed next to them.”
