words. Rightfully so, as it was Frances Scott Key who wrote the star spangled banner during the War of
1812 as he watched the bombing of Fort McHenry by the British Royal Navy. A time when our
freedom and existence were being impinged upon.
This is a frame-ready 8″ x 10″ print of the star spangled banner and a few close up shots of this
wonderful piece. The age old process called letterpress printing is used to print on an ultra-thick
600gsm 100% cotton acid free paper to create a deep impression in the paper from the printing plate.
This process is extremely time consuming and intricate as each piece is hand fed through the
letterpress. Some of these presses are so old they are still powered by a treadle (foot power).
