Seabiscuit was an American thoroughbred racehorse that was born in 1933. He was bought by businessman Charles Howard for $8,000 and was not very successful in his early races. Under the training of Tom Smith and jockey Red Pollard, Seabiscuit's performance improved and he went on to win several important races, including a famous match race against War Admiral. Though injured later in his career, Seabiscuit recovered and won his final race, becoming a symbol of hope for Americans during the Great Depression.
