3. THREE CATEGORIES
1 Peter 4:10, “As each one has received a gift, minister it to
one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
Gift = Greek - a divine gratuity, a spiritual endowment, a
free gift. Nothing we can earn. The command is not to try
to deserve it, but use it. This gift was given us at birth and
will not be taken away. This is the way God made us.
4. MANIFESTATION GIFTS
1 Cor. 12:4-11, “4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And
there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who
works all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to
each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of
wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge
through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to
another gifts of healings by the same[b] Spirit, 10 to another the
working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of
spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the
interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works
all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.”
5. NINE MANIFESTATION GIFTS
The word of wisdom, a revelation of wisdom beyond natural human wisdom that enables a
person to know what to do or say.
The word of knowledge, a revelation of information for a person, group, or situation that
could not have been known by any natural means.
Faith, the kind of wonder-working faith that move mountains an waits expectantly for
results.
Gifts of healings - the many different ways and varieties of degrees in which God manifest
healing.
Working of miracles - the demonstration of the power and action of God that goes beyond
natural laws.
6. EXHIBITION, EXPRESSION
Prophecy, an anointed proclamation of God through an individual to encourage, exhort, or
comfort.
Discerning of spirits, a person’s ability to perceive what type of spirit is in operation in a
given situation.
Various kinds of tongues, the languages given to the believer by the Holy Spirit but not
understood or learned by the speaker.
Interpretation of tongues, the supernatural ability to express the content of what has been
spoken in tongues.
Note: These gi%s belong to the Holy Spirit is in charge of dictating when these gi%s are to be
used through an available and expectant vessel. These are not gi%s WE possess.
7. THE MINISTRY GIFTS
Ephesians 4:11-12, “And He Himself gave some to be
apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors
and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the
work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.”
Note: He Himself gave some... not all function in the 5-fold
ministry gifts... but all have gifts.
8. FIVE-FOLD MINISTRY
Apostle - establishes and strengthens churches
Prophet - speaks forth the message of God
Evangelist - called to preach the Gospel
Pastor - feeds and shepherds the believers
Teacher - instructs believers in the Word of God
These are not offices, titles, or positions, but functions or
job descriptions.
9. A person doesn’t become a prophet by being given the name. Rather, he becomes a
prophet as he develops his God-given ability to function in prophet-like way,
responding to God’s specific call with a willing heart.
The purpose of the ministry gifts are clear: Eph. 4:11-13, “for the equipping of the
saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all
attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God...”
A prepared & equipped group of believers, doing the work of the ministry causes
Christ’s Body on Earth to function as His true representatives. You may call those
who function in the 5 ministry gifts as equippers.
10. MOTIVATIONAL GIFTS
Romans 12:6-8, “6 We have different gifts, according to the
grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then
prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is serving,
then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to
encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give
generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show
mercy, do it cheerfully.
11. BUILT IN GIFTS
God created you, uniquely, with special gifts and abilities.
You don’t work to deserve them, but they work for you.
These gifts were meant to be used in cooperation with the
Holy Spirit in our lives.

14. IN CONTEXT
Rom. 12:1-5, “I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the
mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members
and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God,
which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship. Do not be
conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial
customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new
ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and
acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and
perfect [in His sight for you].For by the grace (unmerited favor of God) given to me I warn
everyone among you not to estimate and think of himself more highly than he ought [not
to have an exaggerated opinion of his own importance], but to rate his ability with sober
judgment, each according to the degree of faith apportioned by God to him. For as in one
physical body we have many parts (organs, members) and all of these parts do not have the
same function or use, So we, numerous as we are, are one body in Christ (the Messiah) and
individually we are parts one of another [mutually dependent on one another].” AMP
15. Only through wholehearted dedication can our motivational
gifts be used as God intended.
Our mind becomes a personalized revelation of God
through renewing our minds in His Word.
Have the right attitude about ourselves, grateful and
humble, not selfish or conceited.
Understand the various gifts in Christ’s body and work
together in mutual interdependence.
16. Using our motivational gifts through walking in the Spirit is
the only way we will find fulfillment.
These gifts are the motivating forces in our lives.
Unless channeled appropriately, we will only experience
frustration.
The gifts will become polluted if used for selfish reasons.
17. A COMPOSITE LIST
1 Cor. 12:27-31, “Now you are the body of Christ, and
members individually. 28 And God has appointed these in
the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers,
after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps,
administrations, varieties of tongues. 29 Are all apostles?
Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of
miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak
with tongues? Do all interpret? 31 But earnestly desire the
best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way.”
18. THE LOVE CHAPTER
When operating in the motivational gifts, the ministry gifts,
or the manifestation gifts, if you don’t do it in love, you are
doing nothing.
May we write this truth on our hearts and tattoo it upon our
eyelids, keeping it ever ahead of all we do.
