As many as 81% businesses in India feel that poor performance of enterprise
applications has had an adverse impact on their work, according to a survey ,
in which 71% of the respondents specified that it impacted their work at
least weekly and caused problems ranging from lost revenue and customers
to lower morale and hit their brand image.In the survey, American
information technology company Riverbed Technology , whose products
boost data speeds on networks, asked 100 companies from India about
application performance, or monitoring and management of performance
and availability of software applications in their business.
“With millions of devices, apps, data and users accessing the network today ,
the modern enterprise depends already on applications for almost every
task,“ said Bjorn Engelhardt, senior vice president-Asia Pacific and Japan at
Riverbed Technology .

While all the respondents said that application performance was critical to
business, 76 of the 100 respondents said they felt “in the dark“ about why their
enterprise applications were running slow, highlighting a disconnect between IT
teams and business executives. Globally , 71% businesses said they feel a similar
disconnect.
The pitfalls of a poorly per forming application are contract delays, according to
48% respondents, a missed critical deadline (45%) and losing clients or customers
(42%).
As many as 54 of the 100 companies surveyed in India said optimal application
performance improved employee productivity, 50 said it improved customer
satisfaction, 45 said it led to cost savings and 46 said it saved time.
About 94% of respondents said they believe troubleshooting application
performance issues is more difficult in a hybrid IT environment. A hybrid
environment is one where an enterprise provides and manages some IT resources
inhouse and uses cloud-based services for others.
