1. Introduction to site of ETP plant (Concord biotechLimited)
Concord Biotech Ltd. is an R&D driven biotechnological powerhouse that
manufactures Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients through the process of Fermentation, Semi-
synthetic and synthetic processes. Founded in the year 2000, Concord has since emerged from

worldwide with efficient distribution infrastructure in markets like North America, Europe,
Japan, Central & Latin America, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Asia - Pacific as well as CIS
and MENA countries. In the near future, we aim to further expand our horizons by partnering
with leading Global Pharma Companies and meeting their product development, product
distribution needs as well as undertaking direct product distribution.
2. Introduction to Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP)
Use of waterin industries
Water is the main component which is used in all type of the Industries. Water is used for
different processes in the industries. It may be used for washing, dilution, formation and
condensing the steam. But all water used in the different industry is not totally consumed.
Generally, almost all the industries generate waste water that needs urgent attention. Water use
in industry is a double-edged sword. On one hand it puts immense pressure on local water
resources. On the other, wastewater discharged from the industry pollutes the local environment.
Water is required, often in large volumes, by industries as process inputs in most industries. In
other cases, like food and beverage and chloro-alkali industry, water is used as a raw material:
turned into a manufactured product and exported out of the local water system. However, in most
industries it is essentially used as input and mass and heat transfer media. In these industries a
very small fraction of water is actually consumed and lost. Most of the water is actually meant for
non-consumptive process uses and is ultimately discharged as Effluent.
Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP):
Effluent Treatment Plants or (ETPs) are used by leading companies in the pharmaceutical
and chemical industry to purify water and remove any toxic and non toxic materials or chemicals
from it. These plants are used by all companies for environment protection.
An ETP is a plant where the treatment of industrial effluents and waste waters is done.
The ETP plants are used widely in industrial sector, for example, pharmaceutical industry, to
remove the effluents from the bulk drugs.
During the manufacturing process of drugs, varied effluents and contaminants are
produced. The effluent treatment plants are used in the removal of high amount of organics,
debris, dirt, grit, pollution, toxic, non toxic materials, polymers etc. from drugs and other
medicated stuff. The ETP plants use evaporation and drying methods, and other auxiliary
techniques such as centrifuging, filtration, incineration for chemical processing and effluent
treatment.
The treatment of effluents is essential to prevent pollution of the receiving water. The
effluent water treatment plants are installed to reduce the possibility of pollution; biodegradable
organics if left unsolved, the levels of contamination in the process of purification could damage
bacterial treatment beds and lead to pollution of controlled waters. The ETPs can be established
in the industrial sectors like Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals and Leather industry and tanneries.

I. Inlet of untreated Water from Factory to collection tank (Capacity 100 KL)
II. Oil & grease trap (capacity 18 KL)
III. In Equilization Tank treatment with Lime and alum.PH is controlled here.(capacity
320 KL)
IV. In Primary Clarifier Settling of Suspended particles (Capacity140 KL)
V. In Aeration Tank (capacity 1800 KL)
Decomposition (capacity 2060 KL)
Aerator used for Oxygen transfer
VI. Secondary Clarifier (Capacity 70KL)
Recirculation of Bacteria
VII. Holding tank (Capacity 30 KL)
VIII. Filtration tank
Sand Filter
Carbon Filter
Inlet of untreated Waterfrom Factoryto collectiontank (Capacity100 KL)
Untreated Water coming from factory is to be collected in to collection tank and discharge in
to Oil and grease trap.
Oil & grease trap(capacity18 KL)
In Oil and grease trap oil and grease separate from the water and is to be discharge in to
Equilization tank.
Equilization Tank
In Equilization tank there is treatment of water with lime and alum. Treatment with lime PH
change approximate 10.5 and after that process with alum PH change 7.5
Primary Clarifier
In primary clarifier suspended particles are settling down. And that sludge particles discharge
to the decarter
Aeration tank
In aeration tank There is Decomposition process Bacteria (3000 to 4000 PPM) And aerator
use for the transfer the oxygen it’s important for the growth of the bacteria. And there is the
COD get down.
SecondaryClarifier tank
In secondary Clarifier there is again process of settling the particles and discharge the sludge
to the decarter.and water discharge into the holding tank
Holding tank
In holding tank water collect for the next process of filtration.
Sand filter
In sand filter sand particles are separating from the water.and its discharge into carbon filter.
Carbon Filter
In carbon filter there is process of remove the colour and odour of the water .After that water
is use for the gardening.
Total timing for comlete all the process is 24 hourse
5.ETP Planttreated watertests
After The complete Water treatment process its tested for COD , BOD , PH , TDS , S S. IN
LAB.
6. Use of treatedWater
Water is use for the gardening.

Introduction to Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) Use of waterin industries
  • 3. Water is the main component which is used in all type of the Industries. Water is used for different processes in the industries. It may be used for washing, dilution, formation and condensing the steam. But all water used in the different industry is not totally consumed. Generally, almost all the industries generate waste water that needs urgent attention. Water use in industry is a double-edged sword. On one hand it puts immense pressure on local water resources. On the other, wastewater discharged from the industry pollutes the local environment. Water is required, often in large volumes, by industries as process inputs in most industries. In other cases, like food and beverage and chloro-alkali industry, water is used as a raw material: turned into a manufactured product and exported out of the local water system. However, in most industries it is essentially used as input and mass and heat transfer media. In these industries a very small fraction of water is actually consumed and lost. Most of the water is actually meant for non-consumptive process uses and is ultimately discharged as Effluent. Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP): Effluent Treatment Plants or (ETPs) are used by leading companies in the pharmaceutical and chemical industry to purify water and remove any toxic and non toxic materials or chemicals from it. These plants are used by all companies for environment protection. An ETP is a plant where the treatment of industrial effluents and waste waters is done. The ETP plants are used widely in industrial sector, for example, pharmaceutical industry, to remove the effluents from the bulk drugs. During the manufacturing process of drugs, varied effluents and contaminants are produced. The effluent treatment plants are used in the removal of high amount of organics, debris, dirt, grit, pollution, toxic, non toxic materials, polymers etc. from drugs and other medicated stuff. The ETP plants use evaporation and drying methods, and other auxiliary techniques such as centrifuging, filtration, incineration for chemical processing and effluent treatment. The treatment of effluents is essential to prevent pollution of the receiving water. The effluent water treatment plants are installed to reduce the possibility of pollution; biodegradable organics if left unsolved, the levels of contamination in the process of purification could damage bacterial treatment beds and lead to pollution of controlled waters. The ETPs can be established in the industrial sectors like Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals and Leather industry and tanneries.

  • 5. Inlet of untreated Waterfrom Factoryto collectiontank (Capacity100 KL) Untreated Water coming from factory is to be collected in to collection tank and discharge in to Oil and grease trap. Oil & grease trap(capacity18 KL) In Oil and grease trap oil and grease separate from the water and is to be discharge in to Equilization tank.
  • 6. Equilization Tank In Equilization tank there is treatment of water with lime and alum. Treatment with lime PH change approximate 10.5 and after that process with alum PH change 7.5 Primary Clarifier In primary clarifier suspended particles are settling down. And that sludge particles discharge to the decarter
  • 7. Aeration tank In aeration tank There is Decomposition process Bacteria (3000 to 4000 PPM) And aerator use for the transfer the oxygen it’s important for the growth of the bacteria. And there is the COD get down. SecondaryClarifier tank In secondary Clarifier there is again process of settling the particles and discharge the sludge to the decarter.and water discharge into the holding tank Holding tank In holding tank water collect for the next process of filtration. Sand filter In sand filter sand particles are separating from the water.and its discharge into carbon filter.
  • 8. Carbon Filter In carbon filter there is process of remove the colour and odour of the water .After that water is use for the gardening. Total timing for comlete all the process is 24 hourse 5.ETP Planttreated watertests After The complete Water treatment process its tested for COD , BOD , PH , TDS , S S. IN LAB.
