Who Are We? The Marine
Megafauna Foundation have been
conducting research on the manta
rays around the world for the past
eight years. We use non-intrusive
research methods such as
photography in order to create
database of the individuals in
different regions to help us expand Reef Manta Ray (Manta alfredi)
on the limited information we have
in these exquisite animals. How Can You Help? Manta rays all
have individual and unique spot
patterns on their underside. By
photographing these ‘fingerprints’
or other distinctive features we can
establish whether this is a known
or new individual. This information
will help us to determine the
population size and learn more
about their behavior and group
Giant Manta Ray (Manta birostris) interactions.
