2. THEATER OF THE OPPRESSED The Theater of the Opressed (TOD) is a method developped the brasilian advisor, actor, director and pedagogue Augusto Boal in the 1960s. The Theater of the Oppressed is about the theater of oppressed social classes and about all oppressed people inside these social classes. The methods of the Theater of the Opressed are influenced by Bertolt Brechts epic theater and by The Pedagogy of the Oppressed by Paulo Freire. They contain some initial games for actors and non-actors: the journalistic theater, the rainbow of desire, the legislative theater, the invisible theater, the image theater and the forum theater – the most famous among them. They are aimed at transforming the observers into protagonists of the dramatic action and “through this transformation helping the observers to prepare real actions which lead them to their own liberation”. The Aesthetic Eduaction has been the last method developped by Augosto Boal. http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teatro_del_oprimido

7. Second period Theater of the Oppressed Acahualinca and Ciudad Sandino, sponsored by COSUDE in Nicaragua During this second period we wrote a script for the play, we recorded a special CD with music and we made the a stage design. The play was called BARRIO LIMPIO BARRIO SANO (CLEAN TOWNSHIP, HEALTHY TOWNSHIP). The children practiced and presented the play to the most polluted markets in Managua (Huembes, Mazoreo and Oriental). On these markets we presented the play in collaboration with sister organizations that provided us a place like INPRHU and Pan y Amor del Oriental. In addition we presented us in Ciudad Sandino and finished in the lecture hall of the University of Centralamerica. Children, teachers from Acahualinca and Ciudad Sandino participated. The message thrills the consciousness of children and adults from Managua. We will provide new trainings about how to handle garbage for the benefit and the development in the community. Using founds of DANIDA (Danish cooperation) we continued our work in the elementary school of Acahualinca where we currently provide artistic recycling workshops, construction with ecological bricks (handling of nonbiodegradable waste), agriculture and reforestation (handling of biodegradable waste) and muralism to leave behind the graved messages where everybody can see them and remember them.

15. Nursery-school teacher, La Dalia, Nicaragua 2009 Theater is an efficient way to communicate new values to people or groups of people. It is as well a tool for conflict resolution and for other methods that we use as Positive Inquiries and restaurative circels. Theater is the first phase that uses punctual organisation to wake up consciousness about subjects that impede the social development. Among others, it gives us the possibility to reprocuce situations that we live through every day. By representing these scenes we have the occasion to intervene as mediators, directors, trainers and to give alternative solutions for their problems.

49. Sculptural work ASART-OIJ: project of infantile disarming 2008-2011 At first a play was presented in this project. This play invited the children to replace their martial toys with colored pencils, notebooks and water colors. Many toy weapons but also real thrust weapons and firearms were recollected. We had to start doing something with the recollected toys and as a result we elaborated an enormous sculpture that refers to peace culture together with product design students of Veritas University. The work is called “Los niños y niñas de Costa Rica eligen la PAZ” (“The children of Costa Rica choose peace”). The sculpture is exposed in the permanent exhibition in the Museum of the children in San José, Costa Rica. We want to repeat this project in Nicaragua and we almost have obtained the founds to realize it.
