5. INTRODUCTION
In an ecosystem there are food relation between
organism. The process of repeated eating and being
eaten is referred to as the food chain. The food chain
consists of producers. Consumers and decomposers.
In other words
The sequence of living organism in a community in
which one organism to transfer food energy is called a
food chain.

6. Producers
Producers are the organism which
can prepare their own food
Eg : Green plants

7. CONSUMERS
Those organism which consume
food prepared by producers are
called Consumers. The consumers
depends on producers for food,
directly or indirectly.

8. All the animals are consumers.
Consumers can be further divided
into three groups.
Herbivores, Carnivores And
Omnivores

9. PRIMARY CONSUMERS OR HERBIVORES
Those animals which eat only plants are
called Primary Consumers

10. SECONDARY CONSUMERS
The organism which directly depend on
Primary Consumers for food is called
Secondary Consumers

11. TERTIARY CONSUMERS
Which feed upon small carnivores are
called tertiary Consumers

12. DECOMPOSERS
The decomposers help in decomposing
the dead bodies of plant and animals and
hence act as a cleaning agent of
environment.
