Migraine headaches happen periodically with pulsating head pain, usually on one side of the head that get worse with
movement and routine activity. They may be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, increased sensitivity to light, increased
sensitivity to sound, dizziness, blurred vision, and other symptoms.
“Findings of recent, major research studies show that only 39 percent of migraine sufferers are diagnosed and treated by a
medical professional,” remarked Michael M. Tuchman, MD, FAAN, medical director of the center’s Clinical Research
Department.
The screening is in conjunction with a 20-week research study the neurological center will be conducting, involving about six
visits to the center over that time frame. Any migraine sufferer will benefit from the information session, which includes the
difference between normal headaches and migraines, migraine treatment options, and current research trends. Potential study
participants are men and women between the ages of 18 and 64, who are in good health and have a history of periodic
migraines for more than one year. They must have experienced between four and 14 migraine days per month during three
months prior to the study.
Palm Beach Neurological Center is one of the most successful clinical research organizations in Florida with over 25 years of
experience. The center also is a comprehensive diagnostic, treatment and patient care facility for neurological disorders. Dr.
Tuchman is a recognized expert in the evaluation and treatment of neurological disorders.
