              ENDONTICS OFFICE

              Location: Kelowna

              Client: Okanagan Endontics Specialists

              Year: 2007- 2008

In the development of this project the client requested a focus on the
redevelopment of the traditional operational methodology to create a
facility that is in cutting edge in its Specialty and ranked in the top five
in Canada. The project included treatment spaces, administration as
well as teaching spaces. The project created a welcoming environment
to make patients feel comfortable when they enter the space.
We used strategically located windows and openings to give the small
space of 2600 sf a feeling of a large and bright space. The materials
reflect a contrast of the warm woods and brick to the cream white
              drywall.

         Client: Interior Health Authority

         Year: 2005

This project involved the development of a master plan for the 3rd floor of KGH to improve the services
provided to the public. One goal was to improve the user experience when arriving at the hospital while also
improving the safety and security of the patients. This has been achieved through the relocation of the Main
Nurse station and a waiting area to the entry area. Further more the plan included developing a new
expanded L1 and L2 nursery with the required ancillary spaces. The current guidelines for the nursery were
reviewed and as much as was possible implemented within the limited existing space. A change in the patient
room mix was also included in the master plan private vs. semi private. The project renovations were
completed in an operational ward. The project was completed on Time and on Budget in 5 phases that
         included removal of asbestos materials.

COMMUNITY

        ROTARY CENTRE OF THE ARTS
(in association with Hotson Bakker Architects)

        Location: Kelowna, BC

        Client: City of Kelowna

        Year: 2006- 2007

This project has made significant gestures to the Urban Context it sits in.
The outdoor space is an important element in making the project successful.
The project involved taking an old packing house and wrapping it with some
new spaces that have technically key functions, that were not suited to the
renovation component. One of those spaces is the Atrium which is the
circulation space as well as a hub of activity c/w with a Bistro. The Atrium is
the gateway to the building. The Art walk developed with the project in mind
creates a spine that reaches out into the community as well as highlighting
the Orchard and Wine Industry with grapes that grow on the trellis and
mosaic artwork on the concrete structure that form light posts and benches

           OKANAGAN MOUTAIN FIRE PAVILION

Location: Bertram Creek Park, Kelowna, BC

Client: Regional District of Central Okanagan

           Year: 2006- 2007

The pavilion is an open-air structure located on the shore of Lake Okanagan
and is open to the public year round. Local businesses and community
organizations donated time, money and material to ensure that this project
would be a success. The pavilion illustrates the devastation of the 2003
Okanagan Mountain Fire and serves a dual purpose. The structure acts as a
gathering place for public and private events. It also serves as a public
education centre to raise awareness of the impact of the Fire, the Mountain
Pine Beetle and the fragile nature of the woodland setting in which it is
situated. The design concept was conceived as a journey through the Okana-
gan Mountain Park and created a path representing the forest’s lifecycle,
naturally occurring environmental impacts and the resulting rejuvenation of
the forest. Its focus is on the surrounding environment and treats the struc-
ture as an integral part of the forest. The pavilion functions in unison with
nature and the structure is fully engaged with the landscape.

CITY OF KELOWNA CITY HALL - MASTER PLANNING REDEVELOPMENT
Client: City of Kelowna, Kelowna, BC

Renaissance Architecture worked with the department heads to develop a master plan
for the City in 2001 for the City Hall to determine a 5 and 10 year window of space
needs. This was followed by rethinking the way the city would provide services for the
Developments services department to improve the public process. This resulted in the
redevelopment of office space on the 2nd floor of 12,000 sqf to create a one stop
shop. The space and the program is functioning successfully to the community.
In 2008- 09 Renaissance Architecture has become involved in the redevelopment of
the 4th floor to redevelop the office space into a creative working environment that
would promote teamwork through spatial organization of work spaces, break out
spaces and meeting spaces that include all of the latest technology. Other spaces that
have been redeveloped to improve the service aspects of the facility include finance
and information facilities on the main floor. Renaissance’s involvement in the
projects has been from schematic design through construction administration.

Alexander was involved in the project under the predecessor firm Woodworth
Ulrich and Frie Architects and Engineering Ltd. The project transitioned to
Renaissance Architecture through the detailed design stage and construction.
The project included a 60,000.00 SF expansion to the facility that included
doubling the sanctuary from 1250 to 2500 people as well as a flex space that
could be broken down and used for a chapel and Christian education. Other
spaces included daycare, music space, Christian education, library and a
commercial kitchen. The project also involved building in audio visual into the
sanctuary as well the Christian education spaces.

        SALVATION ARMY
        Client: Salvation Army, Kelowna, BC

The redevelopment of the existing Salvation Army Facilities had to be a
renovation due to site issues and the proximity of a creek. The project
expanded the office and educational space by doubling the foot print of these
functions. The project also included removing the roof off of the sanctuary
and raising the volume to achieve an airy feeling.

        GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH
Client: Grace Lutheran Church, Kelowna, BC

The renovation of building included a new sanctuary with an occupant load of
350 seats. The shape of the sanctuary promotes natural acoustics and creates
a more intimate space by bringing the parishioners closer to the pulpit. The
design had to have a sense of tradition which was achieved by including a
traditional basilica vault over the central aisle as pulpit.

Local businesses and community organizations donated time, money and material to ensure that this project would be a success. The pavilion illustrates the devastation of the 2003 Okanagan Mountain Fire and serves a dual purpose. The structure acts as a gathering place for public and private events. It also serves as a public education centre to raise awareness of the impact of the Fire, the Mountain Pine Beetle and the fragile nature of the woodland setting in which it is situated. The design concept was conceived as a journey through the Okana- gan Mountain Park and created a path representing the forest’s lifecycle, naturally occurring environmental impacts and the resulting rejuvenation of the forest. Its focus is on the surrounding environment and treats the struc- ture as an integral part of the forest. The pavilion functions in unison with nature and the structure is fully engaged with the landscape.
