1. What is convergence culture?

2. Convergence culture is…
• A collision of old and new media
• A new form of interaction between the old media
producers and its audiences.
• Where the audience becomes the user, having an input
into the outcome of their shows or a say in the production
of films.

3. 1st step of Convergence:
The Technological convergence. This is pretty much the
digitization of all media content. This is coming about
through things like internet tv, e readers etc. Basically putting
all forms of media onto the internet and computers.

4. 2nd Step of Convergence:
Economic convergence- Basically the convergence of
different media industries into one big industry. For example,
EA games would join with a film studio to make Call of Duty
the film (which would be SOOOO good!!!! :D).

5. 3rd Step of Convergence:
Social or Organic Convergence- Basically multitasking.
Watching TV while doing an essay while listening to music
while chatting on Facebook, all through the same medium
(i.e. laptop).

6. 4th Step of Convergence:
Cultural Convergence- The BIF BANG!
of new forms of creativity at the intersections
of various media technologies, industries and consumers by
creating a new folk culture where everyone can access. For
example creating a wiki like Wikipedia.

7. 5th Step of Convergence:
Global Convergence- Is the cultural
hybridity that results from the international circulation of
media content. For example world music. It is widely spread
and produces some of the most interesting contemporary
sounds, and in cinema, the global circulation of Asian popular
cinema profoundly shapes Hollywood entertainment.
