After researching Blogging and
performing a case study on Tumblr, I have
concluded that…

Blogging has had an impact
and still does, but it has a
small future.
Conclusion Arguments

Blogging has:

Shifted from traditional media into
participation culture.
Grown massively.
Made a cultural impact.
A small future.
BLOGGING HAS
  Shifted from traditional media into
         participation culture.


 Bloggers blur
             themselves from
 traditional media and create their own
 media where blog readers interact and leave
 comments, taking part in participatory culture
 and therefore become part of the creators of the
 media.

                  Grown massively

We saw a huge rise of blogging with releases
of popular blogs such as blogger.

People investigate blogging and it is put into
the dictionary.
Blogging effected major issues in the world such as     2000 - 2005
politics and became part of mainstream
culture by broadcasting news through blogs.
Blogs became a career    option as a result of ad
sense being released.

BLOGGING HAS
                  Grown massively

 The vlogging   culture took off when the
 Yahoo video blogging group was created.

 Youtube born and many vlogs were
 created.
 Microblogs and tumblelogs also                        2005 - 2007
 started around this time

 Participation grew as bloggers were now able
 to follow people and communicate creating a
 larger online community.

Blogs continue to grow between
developing between the
years changing their looks and
the tools available.

Between these years social
networking take off and blogs                       2007 - Today
aren’t recognised as much but
are still a huge part of
mainstream media
displaying news and of the sort.

                          Grown massively

     58% of Tumblr Bloggers are
  new .
   The growth of Tumblr
  and amount of views it gets (14
  billion) monthly show that
  there is still an impact as
  people are still
  blogging.

 In education and children – Works individually by helping improve
 languages and gets work recognised.

 In family – Sharing personal experiences as a community online, helps
 others in same situation and blogger personally.
 In business/companies – Blogging as a popular social medium, allows
 companies to connect to community through blogging,
 enhancing news, sales, noticeability competition and
 communication.

            Made a cultural impact

  In society – Information can be democratised and distributed vastly,
  giving the power to the people to make a change in any topic.

  In religion – Helps spread teachings of a religion and brings the
  blogger closer to their religion.

  And advertising – Encourages bloggers to post more and create
  revenue by blogging. Also companies such as Google profit
  too.

    socially and in work.
    76% blog daily on Tumblr.
    Blogging has become part of a
    bloggers daily activity in the week.

  Tumblr bloggers blog for personal     (62%)uses.
  Tumblr bloggers attracted to people that blog
  (42%) and visit them regularly , re blogging (62%)
  photos that have personal meanings to the
  blogger.

 User Generated Content, like blogging
 is more than just posts of images and
 videos. Information can be implied
 rather than posted. For example blogs
 regularly link to other blogs. They
 not only contribute
 content, they
 contribute
 information to the

  • 3. Conclusion After researching Blogging and performing a case study on Tumblr, I have concluded that… Blogging has had an impact and still does, but it has a small future.
  • 4. Conclusion Arguments Blogging has: Shifted from traditional media into participation culture. Grown massively. Made a cultural impact. A small future.
  • 5. BLOGGING HAS Shifted from traditional media into participation culture. Bloggers blur themselves from traditional media and create their own media where blog readers interact and leave comments, taking part in participatory culture and therefore become part of the creators of the media.   • 9. BLOGGING HAS Grown massively We saw a huge rise of blogging with releases of popular blogs such as blogger. People investigate blogging and it is put into the dictionary. Blogging effected major issues in the world such as 2000 - 2005 politics and became part of mainstream culture by broadcasting news through blogs.   • 10. BLOGGING HAS Grown massively The vlogging culture took off when the Yahoo video blogging group was created. Youtube born and many vlogs were created. Microblogs and tumblelogs also 2005 - 2007 started around this time Participation grew as bloggers were now able to follow people and communicate creating a larger online community. Between these years social networking take off and blogs 2007 - Today aren’t recognised as much but are still a huge part of mainstream media displaying news and of the sort. The growth of Tumblr and amount of views it gets (14 billion) monthly show that there is still an impact as people are still blogging. In family – Sharing personal experiences as a community online, helps others in same situation and blogger personally. In business/companies – Blogging as a popular social medium, allows companies to connect to community through blogging, enhancing news, sales, noticeability competition and communication. In religion – Helps spread teachings of a religion and brings the blogger closer to their religion. And advertising – Encourages bloggers to post more and create revenue by blogging. Blogging has become part of a bloggers daily activity in the week. For example blogs regularly link to other blogs. They not only contribute content, they contribute information to the web.
