...A volcano is a mountain. Most of the
time, it looks like any other mountain, but
sometimes it shoots out gas, ash and
burning rock. This is called an eruption.

Inside every volcano there is a deep hole.
It goes deep down inside the Earth. It is so
hot there that some of the rocks melts.

There are three types of volcanoes: active volcanoes,
dormant volcanoes and extint volcanoes.
-Active volcanoes: They erupted in the past and they can
erupt again.
-Dormant volcanoes: These volcanoes are sleeping. There
are dangerous too.
-Extinct volcanoes: Extinct volcanoes are volcanoes we think
can't erupt again.

Vesuvius is an extint volcano in Italy. It is
a very famous volcano. One afternoon in
79 a.d. People from Pompeii heard a
loud noise. It was Vesuvius. All the
people started running out of their
houses. But the cloud of ash covered
Pompeii. Thousands of people died.
People forgot about Pompeii for 1,500
years. One year some people started
digging and they found Pompeii. They
found streets, shops and houses.

islands.They are near the coast of Ecuador. There are 13 big
island and 6 smaller islands. There are still eruptions in the
