It has to do with people, has a certain energy about it and should be cast, not contained or restrained. Sometimes a grand vision contains BIG ideas that may be difficult to follow.

How can administrators help staff, parents see the discussions and the work that is going on in the school? Need to create opportunities for people to do this. Listen in such as a chat room or backchannel like todaysmeet. Sometimes that goes array in backchannels or mike was still on (unproductive eavesdropping). Kids and staff listening in. Make sure what they hear/read is productive. Need to be purposeful such as in a blog, school twitter feed. Show 5 minute video PLN for Educators.Have participants share….aloud.
One way to be purposeful is to show administrators how to use an RSS aggregator like netvibes. Bring in a few administrative blogs and then admin can productively “listen in”. A great site to find people to follow is this wiki - http://supportblogging.com/Links+to+School+Bloggers.This is the Reader view in netvibes.
This is the same Admin page but in Widgets view.The point is to see if there is anything that you can contribute to the ongoing conversation. As well if there are teachers who are blogging in your school, an administrator can “pull” those blogs onto a page within netvibes to read, follow and make comments. Next step may be to have an administrator start their own school blog or professional blog (also known as a blogfolio). Modeling purposeful conversations is also important and allows you to think about how you are being purposefully transparent. Be thoughtful of the tools we are using – allowing other people to drop in?? (Diigo does that – sharing your blog URL.) Be thoughtful of the tools you choose – help you be purposefully transparent and productively eavesdroppeable. They will be ready at different times to do this and it’s OK. I try to encourage that they be part of or at least aware of the professional, educational and technological conversations that surround them.
In summary, we live in a time where we are engaged in some exciting innovations in education. We also acknowledge that implementation efforts must be strategic/visionary.
